  1. There's still money out there for a mint Gen 6......

My stunning red one that was just lowered went for £1900 and my Black one for £1800, up for about 3 weeks each..

all the money I chucked at the wight one and could not get a grand for it?

    heyho.......

They seem to sell better in the summer and on Pistonheads.....

Sad to say that I am really loving the 7 at the moment though :wtf:

But I was driving a vectra diesel for a month before

  2. Me? and my cars?

I do like it quite a lot though...

Not a 6 but getting to grips with it, covered 340 miles in it this weekend as well

Foot well is not very big and I cant sit with me legs wide apart like a 6

Removed the little flap thing in the airbox......

Wheels are fooked and look tatty, but apart from that I am in love after the alfa 147 and the shit Vecta dti.

You still got your Celica Dom? Did you sell?

  4. Was this not a club celica or just look like one on here?

The engine was rebuilt by Willenhall Engines, it is built with forge parts and can handle upto 400bhp, i dont know what pistons or conrods were used or what cams it has in it, i have changed most of the water hoses with samco hoses fitted a new intercooler and pipes, a twin fan setup on the rad with adjustable thermosat, it has an alluminium rad, the ac system has been removed to save weight and engine bay space, it has a full stainless steel japspeed exhaust which sounds very nice, toad alarm, there are a few problems with the car the main one being that the turbo needs rebuilding as the bearing has gone and it is smoking and burning oil through the exhaust, i dont think this is the standard turbo because it shoulg have ct26 on the turbo but instead it jus has toyota so all i can think is the compressor is off another toyota turbo car. the left rear wheel abs sensor has broken i dont no how or why it just did it one day and what ever is inside the which i think is aload of fine cooper wire, is chaffing inbetween the driveshaft and hub so makes a slight grinding noise and no its not the bearing iv chcked that. the other problem is when you come off the gas, the engine feels like its starved of air and when you change gearthe same thing happens and the car judders but doesnt do it if your smooth only when your rough and giving it stick, the only thing i can think it is, is the dump valve being too big and letting out too much air or there is too much vaccum either way its not major and shuold be a quick and easy fix but i just dont have the time and need the money. the paint is inn ok condition there are a few stone chips that have been touched up with the wrong shade of white and there is a dent on the sill from a jack, the alloys are peeling very bad too. i have a fuel cut defencer aswell for it and the milage is unknow as when i got it the previous owner had changed the speedo because it wasnt working and i changed it again because it still wasnt working but its all fine now.

  5. 2 Problems.. you're asking whether you should buy a BMW on a Celica forum (always going to be biased) lol :D

and if you're looking for a CHEAP runaround get a 1.2 corsa or something that gets you from A-B but doesnt cost anything to run, insure, tax etc..?

As you said its just for now, it will give you more money leftover to save, get your place, then get a tip top car when youve got the money. I've now learned the problems of trying to buy a nice car on a lower budget. It can be done but you're left wondering if I waited just a little longer I could have got this, or got this etc.

You say that, but I think this is a very open minded forum, and can get some cracking advise from people on here from all walks of life.

a 1.2 corsa would break with the abuse I chuck at a car..

Any how, pick up a vectra 2.0 cdti this afternoon with 98k on, it will do for now. :(

    Gen6 ST or GT.

If it needs a bit or advice you know the best place to find it ;)

I know that but the GT just drinks the juice of life..... and an ST would leave me hurting for a GT

When it comes to a cheap, great value, solid, reliable and still good fun to drive and good looking.

It gotta be Gen6 GT, you can get such a lot of car for £600 quid.

Try that with a beemer 318 and chances are your window will pack up door card will fall off then your headgasket will blow!

What was that someone said about biased opinion on here, Don't know what your talkin about :D

I'll be back in a Celica in the new year, Number 7 will more than likley be a T Sport though... Chuck the yearly bonus at it ;)

  6. Ok gonna have to have a go.

I'm a big fan of Redex, been using for years and had mixed results depending on the engine.

Was getting 29mpg out my vectra gsi, Without pipe and slippers :)

This stuff is top stuff, wait and see...... ignor the haters!

  7. Thing is if you need a decent runner is that parts on the BMW won't be as cheap as other cars if you should need them. Something common and cheap like an Astra (not as soul-destroying to drive as you might think!) would tick more boxes? If the shit hit my fan tomorrow then I would think nothing of selling up for an old Peugeot 306, but only because I know them inside-out! The 1.8 16v is frugal and parts are cheap.

I know I should look at something down market but I will never learn :(

  8. The appeal of a BMW is definitely there, I would love one instead of the Celica (don't shoot me) but I would not have a 318! It's just wrong. 150hp is 'enough' for a car of that size but I think a BMW should be a 6 cylinder affair, or a diesel...

140 Celica makes sense but won't be as practical as a BMW, have you considered a Corolla? Same kind of thing but cheaper (not that it will turn any heads!)

I just need something to drive, and drive and drive, I need to save for a deposit on a new place and a cheap little runner is needed, Come April next year I can treat my self to something nice.

    Gen 6 Celica ST202 then.

I know, almost did just that.

Thought I might try a gen to see if it lasts more than 3 weeks this time.
