Is there any way of converting the dlc1 dianostic socket on a gen 6 to work on a obd11
-
Visited my local Toyota Dealer today to pick up a few bits and piecers, mentioned i did not expect to have all bits for my gen 6, Dave(top man) who is the Swansea parts manager said they will be available for years it's only the parts that are fitted once imported like T-sport wheel centers etc that can become unavailable

When i owned a MGC GT in the late sixties/seventies (and a member of the MG car club) the camaraderie was something to behold what ever model one had TF,A,B,C all used wave/ flash, I think they still do it
-
In the late sixties/seventies people were proud to say they had a primrose E-type or MGB/C, myself I had three yellow cars on the trot TR6, FORD GRANADA GT, TR7 don't know if i would fancy a yellow celica though, it might be an age thing.
-
Had one black one( to check quality) today first class fitted it to my gen 7 looks really nice, will now get another two.
-
As it was the first celica i owned it would be nice to hear from some gen3 owners ?
-
When made this post i did not intend it to turn into my dad is bigger than yours tennis match just i wanted to know who had the lowest mileage celica in each category.
-
I have bought a few low millage cars from these types, 1991 corolla with 1 owner from new same shops only story and full service history, 35k but as the car had never seen a motorway......after a few weeks of driving every day and a few motorway journeys at 60mph the engine had it
same with a 1998 fiesta again 1 owner 25k full service history engine blew up on motorway (that car had never even seen a roundabout)
Low miles is good for a museum or a car show but not if you then want to turn it into a daily car
Just phoned the the owner up and asked him if he had ever taken it on a motorway and he informed me he went to oxford (from swansea) and back three weeks ago without any problems says it now has 9k+ on clock !
-
what did he do with it? buy it and then park it up and look at it
I wouldn't touch a 22 year old car with only 7k on the clock unless i had proof it had been properly mothballed for the past 21.5 years
He uses it once a week for shopping about 5 mile round trip,I have driven it, it's like new, been trying to buy it off him for years.
There are a lot of pensioners around where i live who when they retire treat themselves to a nice car and then then tend to do the same
-
I have a customer who has a J plate gen 5 celica with only 7000 mls on the clock, what low milage celicas are in the club gen 1 to 7

I'm not getting ripped off by my insurance company and I'm far from a mid life crisis
Growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional (gen 6 insurance £151 pa fully comp including occasional work use, gen7 £230, Corolla verso £220 + free bus pass)
-
When i owned a MGC GT in the 60s/70s it was almost compulsory for fellow MG owners what ever model they had, to either wave or flash their lights, the comaraderie was something to behold, different world back then.

Thankyou;

A group of us from the DC went down to the international meet in Switzerland in 09. One hell of an experience.

GT4's really do turn heads
I won't mention the group of us that went to the lake district earlier this year. All 3 cars broke down on the way up.
What was the cause of the break downs? I have had many break downs in nearly 50yrs of driving but never one in seven toyotas (four celicas)
-
Stick with it, it has taken seven years for me start liking my gen 7, for the first time i find iam driving it more than my gen6!
-
I would have hold on to it had I seen this post but didn't till now....... And it seems like your not good at waiting long for replies.
Oh well offer is there if needed. May be a tad to late but I'm easy going enough to help out.
Thankyou,
I will remember you in future, if i ever need anything around brands hatch, as i go there three times a year for the BSB

Love it that there was going to be a drink in it which turned into a missed dinner
In the plumbing world "have a drink on me" does not mean literally have pint or glass of wine, i would not insult someone who has done me a favour in such a way, It can mean a tip anthing from £10+,last week after completing a shower room the customer payed me then said "have a drink on me" and handed me £100!
-
I would like to thank everybody for their kind offers (at least i have saved the price of an evening meal !)
-
collect a wing for me and willing to hold it for me till the bsb meeting at brands hatch in july there would be drink in it at the rochester premier inn
-
I too will be at Snett. for the BSB (Only just up the road from me.) Keep a look out for a Tropicana Gen 6 GT with twin, twin pipes. That'll be me.
Will do

Why did you skip the best gen?
2 years, 3 months for me.
Currently having problems, so don't know how much longer!
I had to buy a hi ace van at the time and the best deal i could do was px the gen4.
Have driven many gen5 and must agree with you, missed a vert on a k plate two years ago (it looked as if it had just come off the production line !) i dithered too long.
One of my customers has a red gen5 on a J plate (been making him offers for years) that has only done about 8000 MLS which he only drives on high days and holidays in fact he passed me today lovely sunny day.
Nearly won this but wallerwaller is the winner so far
15/11/2001 first owner in the uk
I think that makes 10 years 7months:)
Mind you she looked a little different back then
I have owned my gen 6 at200 15yrs this month

gen 3 1982-1995
gen 4 1986-1992

All bought new and all nearly 100% realiable!

I will be at snetterton this weekend staying at the newmarket premier inn,(will be taken the 6 but would have have taken the 7 with notice) would have been nice if any club members from the far flung corners of the country who are also BSB fans could arrange meets on the saturday before races oulton park, cadwell park, knockhill etc chance for club members and bike fans to meet up, just a suggestion !
