  1. as far as i know there is only 2 ways around it. to get full OBD2 out of it and thats,

    1 buy a new car.

    2. change the loom, ecu and engine for a new obd2 engine setup.

you have to think of EOBD as being an old analoge signal and the new OBD2 as being a new digital signal. even though alot of tester will read the old EOBD signal it will not be as detailed as the new OBD2 signal.

    Thanks

  2. Visited my local Toyota Dealer today to pick up a few bits and piecers, mentioned i did not expect to have all bits for my gen 6, Dave(top man) who is the Swansea parts manager said they will be available for years it's only the parts that are fitted once imported like T-sport wheel centers etc that can become unavailable

  3. I have bought a few low millage cars from these types, 1991 corolla with 1 owner from new same shops only story and full service history, 35k but as the car had never seen a motorway......after a few weeks of driving every day and a few motorway journeys at 60mph the engine had it

same with a 1998 fiesta again 1 owner 25k full service history engine blew up on motorway (that car had never even seen a roundabout)

Low miles is good for a museum or a car show but not if you then want to turn it into a daily car

Just phoned the the owner up and asked him if he had ever taken it on a motorway and he informed me he went to oxford (from swansea) and back three weeks ago without any problems says it now has 9k+ on clock !

  4. what did he do with it? buy it and then park it up and look at it :o

I wouldn't touch a 22 year old car with only 7k on the clock unless i had proof it had been properly mothballed for the past 21.5 years

He uses it once a week for shopping about 5 mile round trip,I have driven it, it's like new, been trying to buy it off him for years.

There are a lot of pensioners around where i live who when they retire treat themselves to a nice car and then then tend to do the same

  5. A group of us from the DC went down to the international meet in Switzerland in 09. One hell of an experience.

I won't mention the group of us that went to the lake district earlier this year. All 3 cars broke down on the way up.

What was the cause of the break downs? I have had many break downs in nearly 50yrs of driving but never one in seven toyotas (four celicas)

  6. I would have hold on to it had I seen this post but didn't till now....... And it seems like your not good at waiting long for replies.

Oh well offer is there if needed. May be a tad to late but I'm easy going enough to help out.

    Thankyou,

I will remember you in future, if i ever need anything around brands hatch, as i go there three times a year for the BSB

  7. Love it that there was going to be a drink in it which turned into a missed dinner

In the plumbing world "have a drink on me" does not mean literally have pint or glass of wine, i would not insult someone who has done me a favour in such a way, It can mean a tip anthing from £10+,last week after completing a shower room the customer payed me then said "have a drink on me" and handed me £100!

  8. Why did you skip the best gen?

2 years, 3 months for me.

Currently having problems, so don't know how much longer!

I had to buy a hi ace van at the time and the best deal i could do was px the gen4.

Have driven many gen5 and must agree with you, missed a vert on a k plate two years ago (it looked as if it had just come off the production line !) i dithered too long.

One of my customers has a red gen5 on a J plate (been making him offers for years) that has only done about 8000 MLS which he only drives on high days and holidays in fact he passed me today lovely sunny day.

Nearly won this but wallerwaller is the winner so far

15/11/2001 first owner in the uk :)

    I think that makes 10 years 7months:)

Mind you she looked a little different back then :)

I have owned my gen 6 at200 15yrs this month

  9.
