im on it
-
as always celica sundays will eb in force
-
Voted 318, as much as i dont like the look of them they are a really nice place to be inside and really smooth to drive (dont expect a lot of power though last 318 i drove only had i think 128bhp
not much more than a gen 6 ST
-
I tried arranging a few scottish meets as did mrsoundcraft
we even have a name for it "celica sundays" the most we have ever had at one time was 4 cars and jdmawd cheated adn turned up in an avensis
once i get my new unit im more than happy to continue the celica sunday thing giving scottish (and further affield) owners somewhere to work on their car on a sunday on private complex with no hastle
-
just wait and see, all of a sudden there will eb a lot more celica owners popping up on here
as soon as they see it on the tele they will think "i want one of those" should help the re-sale prices just fine
-
thats it,prob same reason im on my 3rd one lol i cant think of many other cars that would be able to handle it to be honest,i dont think twice about jumping in the car at weekend and maybe going off somewhere like wales or head north, think it does them good to be honest after all its what they for lol
exactly and cause you like the car i say use a celica as a weekend car and buy some crappy little diseasal banger for the weekdays, mrsoundcrafts GT4 is beautiful but he drives daily in an old volvo 340 track car
-
yer im doing 15k a year nearly,i love driving even if its just to get out for some fresh air,i find it relaxing lol and fun
I love driving too, one of the reasons i have the celica and probably one of the reasons i keep buying them
btu i use my van as a daily driver (50+mpg £300 a year fully comp with full recovery breakdown cover + no excess) also with a van you do jobs for people and it kinda pays partly for itself
then when you get back in the celica it feels so fast and soo goood
-
28k in 2 years
feck my gen 6 has doen about 8k in 3 years
if your doing that kind of millage buy a cheap diesel (to travel that you dont care about - by cheap i mean £300 tops) and a gen 5 gt4 for the weekends (spend whatever you sell your car for - you can get cheap gen 5's that are still pretty original)
-
from what i have read on the net the dc5 is meant to be one of the best FWD cars of all time,if not the best, beams is nice if you can get a good one,but not much diffrent from what i got now really,i dont like many new cars thats the problem, most are shit...i only like the gen 7 gt,dc5,and maybe a s15 or gtr which is never gonna happen just yet,as i say my mate keeps saying subaru but id rather eat my own shit lol
people always say that about the integra, funny enough people harp on about the ford puma being one of the great fwd cars fo all time pfft. nearly got into a fight with a guy cause he couldn't understand that his puma no matter what is simply a fiesta in a nice frock
zuban posted a video ages ago think it was a race comparison between the integra the beams and a bunch of others, the integra was in front obviously but the much heavier beams was right behind it which i thought was a fair effort
-
Not now I know more to be fair
-
Hey, my 3sfe is lovely! Yes, I will be buying a gt before long but that's besides the point
might be lovely matey but would you pay more for a 3sfe than you can for a 3sge
-
thats why i was gonna go for a dc5 because they are newer and honda are pretty good and im sure id prob have no issues they, yer would be over 4 years but it would last cos its honda, but on otherside i could go for gen 7 gt less money, but a bit less hardcore in my eyes, but i wanna stick with celicas and stay in the club to be honest
I have always loved the dc2's and dc5's but they are never worth the money people ask for them
there is a beams ssiii for sale on here just now which is a far better car than a dc5
gen 7 just dont feel as nice inside as the gen 6 but the gen 7 vvtli is meant to be a good fun car to drive
-
i best get saving then lol other option is my loan finshes in dec next year so even if i get to about june next year i can sell mine (if i was going to) pay off the loan early with money from car,and get new one out for gt4,thats just another option i thought off.
sounds like your just tying yourseld to a loan for another 4 years say, £4000 loan for GT4, over 4 years you will pay close to £8k back
something to think about, save up a few £k and find an old camry soemwher and give woodsport a we email
-
gen 6s are lucky on cam belts if they go they dont muller the engine unlike most cars
you see we all know that, but you still get some scare mongers around sayign but if it goes at x revs etc etc, its designed to be non interferance so if it goes i would be pretty confident fitting jsut a new belt and tensioner, hell my last blue GT i sold I actually told the guy if the belt snaps i will buy it back (because he was a daffty and though at 135k its due and if it snaps i need a new engine)
im 100% certain though that on a gen 5 or gen 4 you will kill your engine and also the beams will be smashed to bits if a belt goes, only the rev 3 guys who are lucky (please note fi you have changed your cams you will muller your engine)
-
100% import, no fog light switch
I agree with ORC on the price
-
who cares about the cam belt (if it breaks its not the end of the world)
wouldn't pay that money though for an auto especially and auto that old, doesn't matter how clean the top of the car is its what its like underneath, low millage could also mean its been sitting for long periods of time and might have calliper problems, rotten fuel system and possibly knackered bushes
+ with it being an early import it could have a crappy 3sfe engine making it even more pointless
plenty of nice autos out there, for that kind of money he could stretch a few more hundred and buy an auto vert
-
would imagine the same
I sometimes for a laugh phone toyota and ask for prices
im sure cw-racing found a site recently selling gen 6 callipers brand new for good prices
-
why not get yours refurbed
i would imagine they will be upwards of £100 from toyota for new ones and £50 + for refurbs or maybe less from a breaker, in fact i might have 2 rear calipers for a 140 although mines are pre-faclift (dont know if there is a difference
-
i woudl stay away from loans, 3 years ago i was broke and had a celica that kept takign a wee everytime i parked it, I had to get a £400 loan to replace my fuel tank and took me 2 years to pay it off and cost me closer to £700 by the time it was done
-
ok just say that mine and spots car were side by side at a good garage (someone that knows how to do the conversion) then surely it wouldnt be to bad? i dont wanna say yer ok ill go for it,im just trying find out more info frist?
send paul @ woodsport a pm he will give you all the info you need
-
Oy
Tea making is a bloody art form
But yes I am useless
same as the rest of us, I wrote a list for my superstrut conversion and jsut told them what to do
got the "why dont you do it yourself"
-
so what your saying is your useless
-
its not just that tho,its doing the swap,i couldnt do it cos i wouldnt know where to start to be honest, think i may just have to wait a while
Spot done his himself and im sure he would talk you through the whole things
would be good to see another v6 celica, there was one that woodsport doen for a member up here but he has long since vanished and no idea what happened to the car
