I get comments just about every day with my car, especially with the influx of new starters where I work. It's usually 'is that your Celica ? Nice car' I never get bored of it, the looks and attention it gets especially when I flip the bonnet and show them the bling. I doubt you would get the same reaction with a Golf or BMW,the Celica just stands out from the crowd
I need to get to the supermarket more often though

Glad it's a happy ending,I would have been gutted. So was he cutting down the tree or did it just fall due to rot ?

Cleaned and quick detailed mine yesterday ,came out of work today to find it covered, gutted

I had the same problem on my first GT. Get some aluminium backing strips and bond them to the underside of the bumper where the cut out is. I managed to get hold of and old piece of bumper,I bonded this onto the backing strips . Then it was just a case of filling, priming and painting
I will try and find the photos

Good manthe plan i was thinking was to get some rotas, take the gt rims off and cover them up somewhere,so if the day ever comes i sell the car the gt rims will still be in good nick and might add value to the car if its orignal rims are good.
Nothing wrong with Rota, they look great on my carDon't get rota's lol
Regarding tyres,I have Pirelli on my Tech 5's and Toyo on the Rota's. Always had Pirelli but I may have a look at other brands once these wear down. Not too sure about Toyo though, I am reverting back to 225/35 instead of 40 once these wear to get the correct rotation, won't be cheap though
Just checked price for Eagle F1 225/35/18 on Blackcircles,£140.88 fitted

I am adding my newly painted engine plastics, put my Rota alloys back on but nothing else planned. I will be buying a project car in a year or so,swaying towards the MR2 so watch this space

Thought I would revive this again seeing as it's coming up to show season

Went to pick the wife up last night from her Christmas do,happened to be at the Doncaster Rovers ground. No room in the car park so I pulled up just outside the reception area under full spot lights. Couple of guys came out for a smoke and spotted me,started pointing and walked across. I was more concerned about them putting their sticky paws all over the paintwork so I stepped out to keep an eye on them. Turned out they weren't that bad, younger one was well on his way but loved the car, older guy got on about the old school Celicas and seemed to know his stuff. Popped the bonnet for them to show off the bling, they couldn't believe how clean it was, they laughed when I told them it was dirty. Passed on ten minutes while I waited for the Mrs

Is the paintshield at all noticeable, can you see any difference in the colour of the front from the rest of the car?
The only noticeable difference are on the edges, there is a very fine line of around 2mm. Other then that if it is properly applied you won't know it's there, just be careful when washing, never use a polish but waxing is fine.If it starts to discolour after a few years then you can have it treated to bring it back to its original condition.

Mine had a full front Paint shield wrap 4years ago,i think it cost the previous owner £600,its guaranteed for 4 years but it's only done around 12,0000miles since it was done, still looks like it was only applied recently

Yes I think you will see a lot more in Spring /Summer, lots will use them as weekend cars. My car only came out in fine weather at weekends by the previous owner. I don't think it ever saw rain or snow until I bought it back in January, it's only got 15k on the clock now but this is rising steadily by 6k year,it's there to be driven not locked up in a garage

I doubt you will see many in rural areas, more in towns and cities. Over time they will dwindle in numbers due to age and write offs so you will see even less. The Gen 7 is a timeless classic design which will look just as good in ten years, maybe in another five years they will be a sought after car so they could be worth hanging on to

Our works security loves mine, they keep stopping me for 'spot' checks  I actually commented on my own car when I went to see it,the previous owner lifted the garage door up and the first word I spoke was 'Beautiful'

I got my TRD gear knob today, fits very nicely with no adjustment . Not as comfortable in the hand as the GT knob but it still looks the dogs do daa
How much money have you spent on your Celica?

About £500 on new stereo, tweeter and vent rings, gear knob. Previous owner spent about £2500 on new alloys, exhaust and other mods so saved me a packet. Nothing else planned apart from an original rear valance if I can source one,no rush
