If you did take it to court with all your evidence what's the worst they can do? They can't up for fine to much can they?
Heck I only got a £200 fine and 30 day ban, no points for getting caught doing over 120mph when I was 19
-
Just wow
-
So of they did their test results to be miss reading does that mean you get your £30 fine back?
Also of you put on a letter respond with ....... (usuall 7-14) days by law they have to respond?
-
Just take it to a halfrauds or any DIY place and compare them with others

If its a dark colour could do a little trick I was taught, with a perminant marker pen colour the scratch in, then with polish polish it back and it will hide the white scratch mark and the polish will remove any over pen on the paint

I have always used Rimwax, (snigger) http://www.rim-wax.co.uk/ seems to have worked well for me but then I have never tried it on my wheels

Our midlife crisis is accompanied by a smug 'we didnt get so mugged by the ins co'
I'm not getting ripped off by my insurance company and I'm far from a mid life crisis

have seen sort of acknowledge with a little prompting
Getting out your car and threatening them with a wave or else is a little more than a little prompting

just as, 'maybe it'll rain at some point in the week'

Problem I find is like about alot of people who drive them don't know one about the history of the celica, they just assume that the celica they have is the only one of its kind, and I'm sorry to say that's mostly the gen 7 owners and two don't know about this wonderful club
-
Keep thinking about doing this to when we get a hot day, but then it rains the next day and I feel its not worth it
You know AC can be set in hot too right? And ATM it's bloody hotter and more stuffy in a car when it rains in the summery. And depends where you go but it's anywhere between £30-50

A pipe with a flange at each end ...Move over Robert Stephenson!
I could well be related to him as my mothers maden name is Stephenson

Ah the kelsport de cat, I helped design that guess its my fault lots of people fail on emissions
-
either way, this topic initial outcome is aload of shite.
If your car passes the mot, then a random copper pulls you over and books you on another set of rules with regards to your exhaust, then surely the mot needs to be updated BEFORE the police can penalise motorists surely??!!
Problem with that is all those who have illegal stuff on their car but for an mot take it off, then when the car passes puts it back on. Main thing a de cat pipe for example (unless your car is except fro needing one of course)
-
Yeah as above, maybe before you jump the gun you should test your exhaust at 3750rpm to see if it's now within the 'limit' as last thing you need is to go accusing them they are wrong and it turns out your exhaust is still over or indeed and quite possibly louder

New vehicles offered for sale within the UK and Europe must comply with a number of regulations. The one that covers noise emissions is R51. This requires that a passenger car must not emit noise of above 74dbA when driven past a microphone positioned 7.5 metres from the centre line of the track, using maximum acceleration in 2nd gear, from an initial speed of 50km/h.
The Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) test, which is carried out on vehicles such as kit cars, requires that the noise emitted from the exhaust, when measured at a distance of 500mm from the outlet, at an angle of 45° with the engine running at ¾ maximum power engine speed shall be no higher than 99dbA.
--------------------------------------------------
So in other words you car was tested incorrectly then as your car is not a IVA (kitcar) therefore if they are classing your car as a IVA due to modifications then by that snippet it indicates your exhaust is passable as long as it is under 99dB under full load in 2nd. So I short they have tested your car as a IVA but used the 'new vehicle' dB to judge by, talk about making it up as they go along  I thought police were meant to know the law before in forcing it upon us

Large stuffed crust Dominos pizza with meatballs, bacon, ground beef and mushrooms to East London, cheers!
Trust me it's quicker to have dominos deliver it

This is what we all need

Their might be, put your location, but I think most go halfrauds. You will probably find it won't work up much cheaper else where. Some motor factors can do it too, the local to my parents do it but it's more than halfrauds lol
-
It's a case of you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't because if you fight it you might find they start getting more arsy with you and force you to do something about it, and if you leave it they might just let it fly. But if it happens again I'd be more prepared to try and fight it. Fund out if by law if you request proof their vehicles are within the limit they have to comply or not. Also see if you can fid out Toyota's standard exhaust db reading should be and find out if your exhaust is within that reading because yeah something like a Ferrari or Lambo which have probably around 90-100db exhausts should be getting fined all day long
Plus I'd be contesting them revving the nuts off my car for a stupid test like that, how often do you drive near redline in your car? Well unless you're doing 30mph in 1st gear everywhere

Most spray places can mix them up for you, dunno if they will be cheaper or not, just rig around and ask. Think you can also get them online but you run the risk of it being totally the wrong colour

I just used to take the air bag light out of the dash, cheap, quick and free

Well SJ has a similar wrap flip but in CF look, why not ask him or Ray (RT Performance) how much but I'd say it's probably closer if not over the £2k mark
