From seller I've bought from on eBay it's 50% mate

I reckon my Audi above is about that, you could get away with doing the front sides too I would imagine. Having looked into it a bit more I suspect one of the best films would be 3M Crystalline as they have a wide range of translucency and off heat protection aswell. They also do a 90% one which you can barely see but would reduce solar gain by a third, could almost get away with that on a front screen! I shall be looking into this...

  2. So what's the lightest tint you can get? I know it's measured in translucency as I had to consider that when buying the light gels I used in the dial kits, anything from 10 to 15% translucent was good for those, but want something far lighter for the windows. I also want to do the front side windows, which I know you're not supposed to, but meh. Lightest on sides then one shade darker on the rear screen.

I've factory tints on my A3 and never had an issue with that so should be okay. Here's a pic, albeit from a higher angle so you have the black interior behind the windows making them look darker...

  3. Good luck mate, hope it all works out. Defo worth it if you're keeping the car and if it's caught earlier it always helps.

JDModified did Rufus, details and pics on page 7 of my Rufus Resurrection thread on Modifications - everything stripped off, that stuff cleaned up and powder coated, underside cleaned up back to bare metal, some bits of welding done to fix one or two issues and then rust treated before waxoil and putting back together. Monumental job but he'll last for years now :)

  4. As mentioned, the trick is not to stretch it if possible, that's normally what pulls corners and edges away, especially after exposure to heat and UV which will shrink vinyl a small amount over time. Not easy, but doable. I also used some of that carbon fibre skin stuff in the Evo , looked awesome after some lacquer and a good polish, but that's tricky stuff to work with aswell, and not cheap :o

  5. It's not just older cars though, pretty much all fuel lines can be troubled by the current bio content, let alone seeing it go up to 10%. My old man has had various seals and lines break up on all manner of cars and bikes over the last couple of years, it's one thing I'll be renewing when Rufus's engine bay gets done!

  6. *lol*

I'd say Rufus is a palace, but it's easy to keep clean when he's sat in the garage not going anywhere :(

The Evo I'd say is a dirty palace (just to mix things up) - kept nice and tidy, no eating/drinking or anything inside and I don't smoke, but not actually cleaned up as often as I'd like, so the floor mats build up stones, leaves, etc. until I remember to shake them out :)
