Alternator Belt:

  • Loosen idler pully/tensioner retention bolt to allow removal of belt
  • Remove belt
  • Fit new belt
  • Tighten idler pully/tensioner and tighten
  • There should be enough slack in the belt, at its tightest point, to be able to twist it roughly 45 degrees. (Toyota spec: 11-14mm deflection (without A/C))


Power Steering Belt: (Alternator Belt REMOVED)

  • Jack up front of car and place on axle stands
  • Remove O/S Lower cover/undertray
  • Loosen tension adjusting arm bolt to enable de-tensioning of belt
  • Remove belt
  • Fit new belt
  • Tighten tension adjusting arm bolt to enable tensioning of belt
  • There should be enough slack in the belt, at its tightest point, to be able to twist it roughly 45 degrees.
