So got these pads for the rear from eBay seller simplycarparts and they seem to be fake.

The box arrived with the seal cut open. One pad is considerably thinner than the others and pads seems to have rust on them

Either ferodo quality control has flopped big time or iv been scammed.

What are your thoughts? The box looks legit but I think the pads were swapped out.

Iv been. Refunded for them, seller requested the pads back so they can take it up with ferodo.

https://www.ferodo.com/en-gb/catalogue/529270/ferodo/premier-eco-friction/braking/brake-pad-set--disc-brake/fdb1395.pd.html

Can see in ferodo website that 2 of the pads in the pack are a different shape to what they should be.

Can't risk buying online again this late since I need to get the car sorted on Friday which is my day off. Resorted to ordering Bosch pads from eurocarparts, will do collection and get cracking.

The new calipers seem good and the febi bilstine discs seem fine too.

Wouldn't have thought that a company such as ferodo would have quality control issues on mission critical parts like brake pads.

Iv never had issues with eurocarparts pagid pads and those are usually cheaper.

Picked up the Bosch pads today from eurocarparts, they are made in china but quality looks far superior to the ferodo, also the proper shape and has wear indicator clips on them too.

Will get the brakes sorted tomorrow.

From many decades of experience Ferodo pads are the best for fade resistance and also lifespan. These would 99% have been fakes, not uncommon from ebay swellers. (The 1% covers the unlikely scenario where the compant has gone to pot recently)

Pic of the Bosch pads can see the shape difference. Also does the pad with wear indicator go on the piston side of the caliper?

Yes, with wear indicator at the top.

I've used Ferodo pads for years, have posted (along with Crazy Cat Lady) on here about them previously, but have never seen a set of so called Ferodo pads come out of a box looking like that.

There should also be fixed wear indicators on the pads.(as shown on Bosch pads in your pictures).

You stated that the box seal was open on reciept and I think that tells the story here.

A previous buyer has had some fake pads, ordered genuine pads from the Ebay seller you used, then put the fake pads in the Ferodo box and returned them to the Ebay seller for a refund.

If the Ebay seller does go back to Ferodo on this I think he's going to be very disappointed with the outcome.

And I won't be touching ferodo pads again. Got one damaged out the box. Will stick to pads from local shops like eurocarparts etc from now on.

You seem to having bad luck at the moment.

Last time I ever bought Bosch pads from Eurocarparts the brake material, from all 4 pads, rotted off the metal backing plates after one winter.

Luck of the draw

Dang, maybe I should have stuck to ecp pagid pads had these in all my cars in the past and no issues.

Guess it's a minefield these days when it comes to pads. Everything made in china

A pagid set on my gen6 fell apart this week when i took them out - but thats down to lack of use, most of the brakes are made by the same manufacturers, a lot of bosch stuff is pagid, i wouldnt worry too much for everyday use,

I run Black Diamond on mine, but very limited road usage and they are pretty erm, aggressive for road use! I'm not going to think about the mileage I get on them, but the initial bite is better than anything else I've run.

I have some spare pads to sell. Guessing postage won't be great with the weight, but I'd want half the price of retail for a pick up to help out a club member.

Have a few things in the sale parts area.

New drive shaft for gen 7 I didn't need also. Thanks

If you're interested in the pads just check code on box. Can't remember if these are upgrade pads for the avensis upgrade or standard factory brake size.

Brake pads seem to be very high on the probability scale for conterfiet stuff. I remember buying Lockheed pads from a local shop back in the mid-1980's (long before eBay) which were clearly wrong uns.

I've got a soft spot for all things Mintex; not bought anything else for a long time.

Passed MOT yesterday with no advisories so good to see the crash didn't affect cars mot.

Front pads are getting low but not low enough for an advisory so will get hunting for some new front pads.

Thinking of just getting Bosch pads for the front since I'm running the avensis conversion and calipers also have Bosch on them.

Any suggestions?
