dannybgoode Posted 19 July 2025 Report Posted 19 July 2025 So today was the day. An incredibly kind person let me use their garage/lift so was able to get the underglow fitted. Ok not everyone's idea of a good thing however FBG is the owner of this car and he's 13, has watched all the F&D's, played countless hours of GTA & Forza etc so it was non-negotiable. And actually I quite like it and everyone at the garage thought it looked ace too. The controller has dozens of modes as well so not limited to solid colours. Really good kit. UK made, fully waterproofed etc. Overall a good job reasonably well done and another one I've done myself. And in other good news, having been under the car, it's very clean. There was a JDM specialist there and he said it's the cleanest Gen 7 he's ever seen. A cracking day then and FBG is blown away but them
_Chris_ Posted 21 July 2025 Report Posted 21 July 2025 Not my cup of tea but it does look effective. I tried to create a similar effect on one of our rides years ago and failed.

It's important to remember though that the car belongs to a 13yo who has been brought up on GTA, Forza, Fast & Furious etc so it was a must have. I actually quite like it in a 90's cheesy way too. And of course it can use be turned off when it is too annoying Modern led strips make it easy to get nice bright even lighting with full RGB colour effects at the press of a button on an app too... 1
_Chris_ Posted 22 July 2025 Report Posted 22 July 2025 The ride down in Newquay was before leds were bright enough for lighting so it wasn't an option I just used normal light bulbs but with battery power that had to last a day including running the ride it just wasn't bright enough to show. A shame as it would have looked awesome with all the other effects in the room. The underglow does look good in the right setting, especially when it's as effective as they are now. It's a bit like the custom car scene some of my friends are in, I appreciate the effort and artistry that goes in to it and enjoy going to the odd show - it's just not something I have any interest in doing. 1
benjia Posted 24 July 2025 Report Posted 24 July 2025 Bring back neons! I hardly ever even see mine anymore as I mostly drive the car in the Summer when the days are longer. They're there though... Welcome to club! 1

Yes, the boy loves them and actually they're growing on me. Interior lighting done as well now. Great kit I got, not the cheapest but works very well and I'm pleased how neat and tidy I've got all the wiring. The use of a lift helped massively!
