Air Con Condenser rad for Gen 7 needed

Recommended Posts

Just attempted to purchase a brand new Nissens A/C condenser via eBay for 110 quid delivered.

eBay item number: 284122679055

Everything seemed to go though okay but then got an email from the seller:

Quote

We are sorry to let you know that autokoraltd cancelled your order and mentioned the cancelled reason as 'Buyer asked to cancel the order.'

This is odd because i didn't ask them to cancel, and can't see why they have.
They still are showing one in stock for sale.

I provided the Reg and VIN number for clarification and this should tally fine from how it reads in the eBay listing.

There are a couple of other condensers for sale on the bay, but these are unbranded although one boasts a 5 year warranty...

Does anyone have any really good recommendations for buying a brand new replacement condenser?

And where from?

Thanks for any help!

Nissens lists two versions of condenser.

94740 - LHD, with dryer, corrosion protected.

940710 - RHD, with dryer.

I guess you'll need the Right Hand Drive version.

Out of interest, was it coming from China?

Or perhaps that's irrelevant...

But I'd recently ordered something from ebay, and also had the seller cancel and refund me, stating the reason as 'seller asked to cancel'. I also felt this was odd, questioned it, and the exact same thing as you... They said they'd rancout of stock. Yet they still had the listing up showing as in stock. People usually change the price to ridiculously high when they run out of stock but don't want to remove the listing.

I'm wondering if there is some sort of new way of getting peoples emails/name/address/details by doing this in order to start a scam. Or to try and use those details to set up false accounts or something.

Either way, I'm now extremely paranoid there is more to this than a simple 'out of stock' issue.

That's very informative, thank you!

You'd think they would point out an important detail like that in the eBay listing!

I have a feeling they don't know and the VIN number i provided came up as incompatible.

And thanks for the RHD listing, i'll go ahead and order one

We can keep calm, don't think there's any need to panic.

Whatever the reason for the cancellation i'm glad i didn't get sent a LHD type

No idea where they're manufactured, but the one i just ordered is coming from Leatherhead, Surrey.

And the price is a bit lower too, result!

They are a Danish company dating back to 1921 and have manufacturing plants in Europe, USA, and Asia.

I would be happy to fit their products in my car when I need to.

Just been googling about these cancelled purchases, and came across this:

"Another increasingly common tactic is for foreign "sellers" to use eBay to collect personal information. You buy from a fake listing, pay, then seller cancels the order with a lame excuse. Once they have your paypal user name, then they can narrow down the amount of tries to hack it, needing only a password, not both data.

I even had this occur with the same "seller" twice in a row.

I reported it, but like many other problems, eBay employees are too busy tooting their own horn to care."

Might be worth increasing the strength of your paypal pw just for safety...?

Had a reply back from the seller who said he cancelled it because it was the wrong part for my vehicle.

So the cancellation was caused by incompatibility with the VIN number.

I replied back saying it's a LHD part and this should be clearly pointing out in the listing!

Do they come with o rings or is that extra?

I doubt they come with O rings.

Have already bought genuine Toyota O rings from Mr. T

Cost me about a tenner for 4 rings.

Apparently the genuine ones are an unusual size.

I don't want to get a cheapo crap quality one since if it gives problems then its gonna cost more with repeated regassings.

Iv seen a few brands like frigair, nissens, nrf, valeo, daisis etc but not sure which brand to go with.

Valeo iv seen as original factory fit in many different cars but not sure if the original celica one is valeo or denso.

Is the RHD version not corrosion protected?

Seems like it would be a useful bonus here in rainy Britain.

^ That part is attached to the unit (for the Gen 7 model)

I don't know if the front bumper needs to come off, maybe not, don't think it strictly does, but if it does then there could be another shopping list for new fixings...

We're going to take the front bumper off of my Celica when we change the condenser, the bumper is slightly out of line anyway, so we want to remove it so we can put it back on straight.

 For condenser:

2 x part number 90099-14120  (£1.80 + VAT each)

For compressor:

1 x  as part number above

1 x 90099-14121 (£1.99 + VAT each)

Your local Mr.T prices may differ from how much i paid in quotes above.

When I've had it done on the gen6 I've always used a local mobile air con guy and he's been brilliant. Can test system, carries spare o rings and caps etc, will also replace parts of the system or pipework if needed.

There are a lot set up to do aircon but lots of them just do regassing. If you find one that does the mechanical side of it to they're really useful.

The guy I use covers west Yorkshire area so if anyone is around here let me know and I'll give you his details

From what I've read Valeo and Nissens are OEM or equivalent and are what I'd use.
