CLUB CALENDAR 2019 - NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER

Just to clarify on the memorial page:

The ones we requested were the memorial photos and we decided not to use the ones from meets as the page looked too clustered so we decided to simplify the page and keep it to 1 photo of the member and 2 of the car where possible (we couldn’t get a photo of Simon unfortunately)

We wanted to have as many photos as possible so that we could have a few options/variations for the memorial page to decide which looked best.

Im not going into any more detail on the subject.

Jesus crist. You do know there is only 12 months. Not everyone is going to be on the calendar. Just be thankful Dave and Dawn gave up their time to make this happen. You sound like a child.

Yes there are only 12 months and some cars are pictured more than once so space was NOT a problem.

This is meant to be a MEMBERS calendar, so to me that means all members who submit photos should be included.

I am thankful that there is a calendar at all and said as much in my original message to Dawn.

But if people are getting left out every year then clearly the photo requirements need to be clearer.....which they now are.

As I said, if no one says anything then nothing changes.

We all appreciate the calendar and the work involved and no-one wants to be left out. If space or photo quality are the problem then fair enough, of course, but when all specifications asked for are fulfilled and they still aren't printed, there are presumably other criteria that we aren't fulfilling. Thank you Black Knight for putting this somewhere we can all see it - hopefully more people will now be able to provide suitable photos for the next one.

I got mine on New Year's Eve and the quality is lovely, thank you.

It’s just getting ridiculous to be honest, I know people appreciate it mostly but you still have no real idea the amount of work that goes into it ontop of our own full time jobs and home life, we were up till gone 1am most nights for days over the course of several weeks making sure this calendar was available and to then have to defend it time after time is just getting stupid and not really worth the hassle.

Dave did all the designing and selecting photos, I sort through emails, save them and rename into members files etc.  It’s a joint effort but a lot of the work is down to Dave and im not going to sit here and not defend him because it’s his hard work.

Each year we give you more and more info, you’re all adults I shouldn’t really have to go into that much. We state every year that we will try to include everyone but again it’s not guaranteed and we try out best, simple as that.

I didn’t want to comment again but I’m getting pretty fed up.

Just to add....

I don’t want anyone to fall out over this, it’s not worth it.  It’s a New year, let’s enjoy the calendar for what it is and let’s look forward another great year with CCUK :D

While we have your attention....don’t forget about the annual party on the 26th.  I want to see as many of you there as possible :D

I think if most people stop and think about it, they would realise that the calendar is very time-consuming.

A few general thoughts from me... Although I am not involved in it (apart from providing probably around 25 photos of between 1 - 6MB), anyone who is artistic will know that it's not a question of arranging a few photos on a page and then printing that page. There is a lot of preparation of the image in terms of cropping, looking at how the page balances out in terms of shape, colour and the overall impression. Even if a photo meets the criteria of clarity and the MB range, the crux of the matter would be the composition of everything in the photo, the lighting, extraneous 'bits' in view that detract rather than add to the overall impression. My Gen 5 friends on our Wales driving days are used to me asking them (nicely!) to get out of the way before I press the shutter :D. If I'm intending to take a photo of my car, I drive out to places where I know the backdrop will enhance the shot - rather than take 'snaps'. The main photo for each month in the calendar is brilliant and gives an indication of what to aim for.

I can fully appreciate the disappointment of anyone not getting their photos into the calendar.

May I suggest that this thread is moved into Members' Area Club Chat now for any further comment. Perhaps put a new basic thread to state what the Calendar is, how it came about, cost and link to buy in the shop in General Celica for non-members to see.

Calendar arrived this morning :) was a challenge to get the photos to dawn ! thanks for being patient we got there in the end :) jello only managed to show a wing off , but a great calendar :)

 Thanks Amanda

Off the top of my head I’m sure we only received 1 photo of jello with another car next to it who I can’t remember who it was but the qaulity wasn’t great and the sizing might have been an issue too but I can’t remember. Try and make sure she gets some good photos this year and send them across for the next one.

We are keeping the email open all year for photos to be sent so I’m hoping after each show or meet people will send photos across :)

Thanks Jan, the memorial page was a pleasure to do, we really wanted to do something that meant a lot to members and just seemed very fitting for this years calendar.  Just a shame we have lost such great people :(

Just so you all know, we have sent a calendar ( free of charge of course) to the family members of those on the memorial page, I was in touch with them while the calendar was being designed and they were all very supportive :)

You just have to look at the elimination process that goes in on the Country file calendar for the BBC to appreciate what is needed.

Iain, you say it is a Members Calendar !!!  there are about 70 photos on the Calendar, and how many members do we have registered ? Hmmm, let me see  26,454 . admittedly not all are active users now but puts it into a bit of perspective. Some members submit more than one photo so they ALL have to be looked at.

Just take it on the chin mate and compose a better photo next year rather than going on a rant on here.

Great explanation and worded much better than myself  Dave is the expect and knows the correct terminology like Sheila :)

He was going to pop online and basically write the above but hasn't had chance yet.
