colin blue
Maybe a daft question. (and in the wrong section). Took delivery of a Gen 5 when at home over the festive season. Trying to tax the car online. Is the reference on the V5C (red bit) and V5C/2 (green bit) the same? Back out in Qatar now and don't have access to the V5C/2 to check reference. arizona
i think its different, you should tax it on the small tear off slip you have as the new owner Edited January 10, 2016 by arizona
SKINY
In NI first tax for new owner has to be done in a post office in person, maybe different on the mainland but.
sarie
Yeah it's different and you need the V5C/2 number - I picked mine up a few weeks ago and had to tax it there as then so I had to check Until you have the new V5 in your name, you need to use the slip number. Tomb
I had the same problem if you are able to make an international call tell them you do not have the slip to hand and they will do it just on the reg if you put pressure on them. Briano
didn't even realise that you have been out of the country since the recent changes you can tax it online though with the reference on the new owners slip (small green piece) and the reg number
mick_66
Colin I was sure it was straight forward doing it online , but maybe because your abroad it may be different . I received paperwork saying I'm no longer the owner over a week ago now. Might be better giving the details to your son and have him do it at this end. Good luck either way and well done on owning a gen 5 again. ps I'll keep you upto date on wheels Mick
