kny
Hey peeps. Are the grooves on this rear N/S disc pointing the wrong way??? Edited April 6, 2012 by kny
geo666
its a preference thing but mine are the opposite way.dont think it would make much difference to be honest.
GreyRacer
Yes these are the wrong way around. The grooves are designed to allow the trapped gases to be thrown out the eliminate brake fade.
armoredfist2002
It's nothing major with being the wrong way around, but they can be noisier under braking than if they are the other way around
princy
If it's the same disc on the other side then they were probably designed so that it doesn't matter, if it's turning the "right" way on the o/s then you wouldn't be able to swap them anyway
kny
Yeah the OS is backward too. Thanks for the replys guys.
stevenc1603
If they are both backward, swapping them over should correct them I would think. Whether its worth it or not is questionable.
peppyuk
Hey peeps. Are the grooves on this rear N/S disc pointing the wrong way??? That is the correct way round, if you have them the other way they will/can make less noise and I really don't think you would notice any difference. Adex
Lols @ definitely the right way/wrong way. Subjective much? You'll even find discs with multiple sets of grooves, one set facing each way. Or, if you're after some really mad shit...
shaungt4
As the guys have said it wont make a difference to what you would notice
peppyuk
Just have a look at which way round WRC race teams have them ;-)
Adex
Yep, just did. They use both ways too. (This photo is of an off-side rear). As the grooves' function is to de-glaze the surface of the pad, as long as it completely crosses the width of the pad as it makes it's pass then it's doing its job. Getting rid of gas build-up is secondary. Drilled discs are however designed to lose the gass build-up, but do hardly any secondary de-glazing. If you had to choose one (grooves/holes), then go with grooves every time. Not that you really need either for for road driving to be fair... TRD2008
Wont they act like a cheese grater that way round and run through pads quicker?
Adex
It shouldn't, as whichever way the groove crosses the pad, there's still only one leading edge & one trailing edge of the groove.
