JayCelica08
im not to sure if this is correct but i heard that you use a old toothbrush and wash it out with warm water. then leave it out to dry for at least a day. correct me if im wrong
InsolentMinx
you buy the K&N recharge kit which is about £15 it contains a cleaning fluid and the K&N oil. it also contains the instructions. One recharge kit is good for maybe 7-8 or so re-oils. off the top of my head, you apply the cleaning liquid to the external surface and leave it for a few minutes..... then you wash out the filter from the internal surface with warm water. the filter should now be white instead of the 'K&N red'. you then use the oil and re-oil the outer surface along the top of each ridge. leave it to soak, and and re-oil any parts that aren't a rich pink colour. leave to dry and stick it back in the car but the instructions are more details. JayCelica08
can you use that with other air filters??
InsolentMinx
can you use that with other air filters?? I've no idea. The K&N filters are designed to be oiled... I don't know how it would react with a 'dry' filter. Might dissolve it

InsolentMinx
^ wot I said, but with moving pictures and a dodgy sink out of a motel. *GASP!* nooooooo.... the vid is wrong. You have to rinse from the clean side, so the dirt comes off the dirty side.... by running water on the dirty side, you're pushing the dirt deeper into the filter!!!! and buy the recharge kit with the squeezy liquid oil bottle, not the spray one.... it lasts much longer
arizona
i forgot about that bit but i did buy the kit which included the spray lube, next time will get the other lube
InsolentMinx
i used to use it for my bike filter so had lots of experience with cleaning that due to it being exposed to our lovely elements
kishan38
Thanks for the replies people and Arizona, thanks for the video. I'll probably do it after Christmas, spent a lot on presents. :\ I'm losing about 20 miles so I'm hoping a clean filter will sort it out. Not sure what else it could be?
