mr.bishi Posted 22 November 2011 Report Posted 22 November 2011 Hi everyone, For those of you who dont know, my lovely Fiance, Simon Baldwin (mr.bishi) was killed in a car accident in February this year, he was driving his beloved Celica at the time and his insurance company have written it off... I need to somehow prove to the insurance company what the value of his car was and Im a bit stuck on how to do this, ive tried google/ebay but they are so rare and his was so unique that im finding it really difficult. I thought I would call on the help of you fellow enthusiasts as you might have old links/adverts to show what they have been selling for that I can share with the insurance company. Also, im not very technologically minded when it comes to forums so I dont know how to get any photos/info of Simons car onto this link either so that those of you who didnt know Simon or his car can take a look. Any help that you can give is appreciated.. Thanks Becci

Its nice to hear you are getting a lot of support, always good to know people are there for you! I wouldn't have a clue in regards to the value but some of the older gen owners will be along soon- It might be worth me moving the thread to the gen 1-3 section as the experts will be in there Im sure with lots of help from the expersts in here we can help Dawn x P.S Was lovely to meet you at JAE, it was great having you there while we presented the awards
Booth Posted 22 November 2011 Report Posted 22 November 2011 Ive seen mint examples of Gen 1 Celicas go for over £5000+ but I couldnt give an exact value. So I couldnt help much but I had to post just so I could say how stunning his Celica was.
carlasumm Posted 22 November 2011 Report Posted 22 November 2011 this website might help http://www.classic-celica.com/nuke/index.php
cooperman Posted 22 November 2011 Report Posted 22 November 2011 i remember reading the thread of all the work that went in to the car. now its difficult to put a price on it as there was alot of mods on the car that just cant be replaced. the link given to BOB's car is a good start. mods on a car doesnt always add value to a car at the end of the day. but i would deffinatly be looking for 7.5k as a min price. i think the best thing maybe to do is look at other classic cars modded to the same standard and offer these up as a comparison. maybe like this standard good car, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-100E-POPULAR-DELUXE-CLASSIC-CAR-WEDDINGS-SHOWS-/290635079140?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item43ab335de4 then this as a modded version, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1959-FORD-POPULAR-100E-HOTROD-TURBO-MUST-SEE-/250936425456?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3a6cf9fbf0 you can then say that if bobs was 7.5k then you should be looking for 9.5k and then some. dont think you will find any thing out there to compare to so a comparison is as close as you might get. sorry i cant be more help. andy here's bob sale on ebay as well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330626161858?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fcsc%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3D330626161858%2B%26_sacat%3D29751%26_dmpt%3DAutomobiles_UK%26LH_Complete%3D1%26_odkw%3Dcelica%26_osacat%3D29751%26_trksid%3Dp3286.c0.m270.l1313%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

ams Posted 22 November 2011 Report Posted 22 November 2011 Hi - Speak to Stephen G - he has just completed a similar build to a similar standard as Simon - in terms of value I would say between 7 and 10k. I was talking to another member a few weeks back about how much of a top bloke Simon was.
Dan_Q Posted 23 November 2011 Report Posted 23 November 2011 Hi Becki, Not sure how to go about this to be honest- in bryans absence (he'd prob know best about this) i'm not sure if the club could do anything to provide backup for monetary values or anything. I think andy (cooperman) has hit the nail on the head- something around that figure should be about right, but i'm no expert. I'm not sure what sort of insurance policy Si had but if it wasn't an "agreed value" one then i'm totally unsure as to what sort of evidence they'd need to confirm value. Hope someone else on here can help PS fellow member carb gifted me a "hong kong phooey" sticker recently. Now my celica is back on the road, it will be put in the rear quarter window next to a CCUK one (like carl has on his gen1) as a permanent reminder of the great man. I'll be sure to send a photo when its done. Hope you and the rest of the family are well xx
Stephen G Posted 23 November 2011 Report Posted 23 November 2011 Hi everyone I'm in touch with Becci. I have a valuation of my car (done independently) which the insurance company accepted so hopefully that will be of some use. That said, they will always be able to find low market examples so the value isn't likely to be as high as the car would achieve if sold. Thankfully our cars were very similar so hopefully my valuation will help. S
izzzzythedog Posted 23 November 2011 Report Posted 23 November 2011 http://cars.donedeal.co.uk/for-sale/vintagecars/2565702 http://cars.donedeal.co.uk/for-sale/vintagecars/2490307 im with andy , 7-10 grand , it was simply one of the best in the country plus with a fully documented history and modifications worth a small fortune on there own perhaps it would be possible that the club print out an estimate of its value on headed notepaper to be presented to the insurance company ?
mr.bishi Posted 27 November 2011 Author Report Posted 27 November 2011 Hi everyone, thanks ever so much for your help, Ill get printing some of these off and send to the insurance company, will let you know how I get on Becc
