Maybe it's time to check the capacitors in your ECU.

Can I link pics from Facebook?
You can, but they will just die sometime later, just like your post here...

You say you have done this in the past. What do you do now to prevent this rust build up issue from recurring in your car?
My car is currently off the road, but I'll be using the same procedure after it's repaired.

I'd be interested to see the inside of a G7 ECU...
I found one photo from Celica Hobby (2ZZ-GE)

...the parking brake is applied to a small degree while driving at 30mph...
I've done something similar in the past.
Drive at 30-40mph, check that there isn't anyone close behind you, apply the handbrake for three seconds using light to moderate force, release and reapply once or twice more. Keep the handbrake release button held in while you do this.

...so would it be fair to say this would be in the £6000 range based on Mileage?
I think @Kev 16v sold his for £6000 and that had between 30 and 35 thousand miles on it.

Given that there was a shim on mine...
Is it possible that the 'shim' was just a thick layer of rust that detached itself from the surface of the hub casting?

You will need to call 07969018590 if you want a quick answer.
He's not a very frequent visitor to this forum.

Make sure the money is in your bank account before releasing the car.

I was a bit disappointed with the auction end price. Thought you would have got £1,300 at least!
-
Good luck with the eBay ad' and hope the car finds a nice caring owner.

I suspect the £700 is all the parts required...
I presumed that too, but ordering from a UK supplier should be cheaper and quicker than getting one from Germany.

It's going to set me back £700 (axle from Germany...
Before you start spending that amount of money, please find out exactly what part needs to be replaced.
I can't be the only one who is curious by your term "axle". If it is actually the subframe that needs replacing - as people have already mentioned - then I can tell you that they are £240.00 inc' delivery (Probably cheaper still via TCB Parts) for a genuine Toyota replacement.
Just trying to help you save some money, that's all.

I think the mileage might put some people off, but if you were asking £1,500 for it you wouldn't be losing too much money.
