  1. Afternoon all, I'm hoping this is all coincidental; I went to get a new key made today as the housing on my current one is cabbaged. Job looks a good one for £3 to cut the blade (I provided the blank) When I got back to my car all of the central locking has to both driver and passenger doors failed; but the boot locks and unlocks fine. It took a while to get to this stage as the passenger door was working fine, but now doesn't lock like the drivers side. Manually locking from inside doesn't work either. So I was starting to think starter motor, then the solenoid when both failed... Key has the same transponder, just into a new housing, it all works fine. Tried to start the car and it is now bleeping and there are various lights flashing in sequence to the bleeps. These have now stopped but the car does not start up. It all looks indicative of a flat battery (battery and locking were all fine last night when I was arsing about in it) but had anyone had this happen to them before ? Hopefully it's a battery issue and not a security / alarm one. Always typical when you lend a battery starter to someone; yours goes. (Hopefully it's that) Video below to show you:- Thanks guys UPDATE --------- Duck of the year here guys, never done it before in 12 years of owning a car... only noticed when I felt the heat on my bald head. I'll accept all insults and embrace them
  2. I appreciate that, crazy. I have gone for some hammerite on to metal aerosol for the finish. If powder coating is still cracking; then I doubt much else will do a better. Hopefully it will be more controllable for the remainder of your ownership! That looks very nice Sly. I'm starting to develop more of an interest in making it look nice underneath than the exterior body work Wolfie... it has to be done haha. I recently discovered my mother in law had TF front and rear subframe done in yellow so I have had to change colour. Don't worry though, I have ordered gold and mirrors will still be required
  3. Honestly sly that was what I thought; but the reality of this has been ridiculous from being quoted £500 for average (with me buying the parts and then doing labour only) outside of relations to this club. The variations in quotes back from garages is ridiculous. Some good suggestions on here and I now have a good collection of contacts of whom have already provided good advice. I just need to get the work finalised. Paul @ TCB performance has been brilliant in assisting me with parts. Once I have painted the subframe yellow it's good to go.
  4. V true. Today should be a walk in the park for them too!
  5. Wonder if thats linked to the filaments in the screens on them ? Seems strange even at that still.
  6. That looks brilliant! Really good job on that I have to say! Looks like you got to work on all of the rear rust.
  7. I love it Cal. Would love to move there in a heart beat if I could. Still full of its charm, although it has a lot of retired couples from S. England now; as they realise they can sell up, get a house twice the size at half the price and live in a beautiful area. Had to drive over to Turriff aswell; always makes me feel where I went wrong in life when I have to drive back home haha. Of course Ams, it can wait a month. I am just trying to line my options up beforehand. If he can do it I am more than happy to wait.
  8. Appreciate the advice Scott. I will check them against he ones I have already tried. I have heard MK banded about on here before ; that's exactly the sort of confidence I was looking for. Thanks Wolfie. I'm finding it hard to select people for restoration, does seem to be an artwork. I'll have a look tonight (plenty of time whilst in stuck on a boat up in Inverness)
  9. Cheers Sheeple I will give a call around. You hit it perfectly there. Most garages just want to buy a part, make a large margin and do a straight swap. Restoration work they don't want. In the age of austerity there are a lot of people can afford to cherry pick jobs.
  10. I could work it driving another car down; but taking a step back and being sensible, it isn't the best idea I suppose.
  11. I really have a trust issue when it comes to jobs like these. Have been stung in the past by people who aren't all too sure what they are doing. (So called professionals: I would feel safer with a club member) I did asked Ams initially but due to bad timing his man cannot help out. To be honest I have been struggling in general. Only 1 garage came back to me after I posted it online to even consider it; and the 1 refurber I used previously missed the issue completely so wouldn't trust them anymore. I really appreciate you coming back to me though mate, even though you are a wee bit away for me! Just had a though here: My works head office is in Peterborough actually. If I could get the car to you; would you be interested?
  12. Does anyone know a decent garage and what would be an acceptable price for the labour of changing one of these damn awful things ? This is also an open invitation to a enthusiast to earn a foreigner I have the subframe ordered. Just waiting for the bright yellow hammerite to arrive; just to make a point. Typically I wouldn't be so fastidious but... rust and restoration work can be an art form; and hard to tell of its been a botched job for top £. Based in Manchester but I'm open to travelling. I know Crazy used Lee Dent Autos (I remember this discussion on my last one) would be curious to know prices at least. Thanks chaps and chapettes.
  13. Haha I love this. Keep it on and then hit the 'sport button' Wolfie I will have a browse through your profile to find the V6. It's a terrible button.
  14. Just took the old girl out for a belt and let her warm up for a good 15-20 mins. Found a decent road and commenced thrashing it. It was taking taking a long time to climb up the ranges and lift engaged but not as aggressive. My heart was breaking, the (already non-existant) torque was pitiful and it felt like it had just eaten a large kebab. Even my missus commented on the amount of noise it was making, but it wasn't going anywhere... and then I spotted the A/C was turned on. Turned that little anus off and she suddenly deposited the kebab and became sharp and responsive again. I couldn't believe how much additional power it consumes with that on. Is it normal ? I know the A/C draws a load, but the difference was insane; but should it affect performance that much?
  15. New 5% limo tints finally on. For £100 fitted its much better than an electrochrome mirror!
  16. I was up in Aberdeen in early December up the A9 though Keith and it was getting daft. Like -19 degC. My skin is a bit too sensitive for that cold. That's the only negative when I return from a trip to scotland; my lady friend complains that my lips have dried out Almost looks like your celicas been drinking milk. Have you noticed increased milk usage in your household ?
  17. Must be above 1degC up there then for you lot
  18. Just wondering if this car has come across this forum at any point in time ? For a 10k price tag I would have thought as much https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201901194094155?advertising-location=at_cars&postcode=ol11st&model=CELICA&page=9&make=TOYOTA&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used More than anything though; I owe Kev a massive apology for thinking of turning my interior beige (the Austin's suited it, mind you ). I figured it would look nice but it is rather atrocious (sorry if the owner reads This, I guess) I promise not to consider it ever again!
  19. Now, now I'm in 2 minds what to do with mine. Go down a trackday route or turn it into a luxury cruiser (basically beige the $hiz out of every interior element with some chrome and walnut, with some lovely blue piping around the seats and insulation. Once it passes the MOT with no horror storiea. Think of it as a Masarati celica
  20. Any chance of bringing this Manchester meet back to life ? I would still be interested in attending in my non-celica guise...

  21. Happy 4 Anniversary Master flex!
