Fit new camshaft cover gasket. Been putting this off for some time as it's a big job, but following the great guide I found on here went smoothly.

I've just replaced the APEC shoes that were on mine for Toyota ones. The APEC ones never felt right - they would make a loud clunk if operated when the car was in motion, were generally weak and prone to having the hold down pins slip out of place if moving off/reversing with the handbrake on. Comparing them to the £60 genuine Toyota ones, I couldn't see a huge difference in the dimensions of the metal part, but the friction material was definitely different, thicker yet slightly less wide.

I think the OP was on about the bumper indicators as the gen 5 ones look very similar to the pre-facelift gen 6 ones and with there being clear/crystal versions readily available thought they may be interchangeable.But they aren't

You can get sealant remover from B&Q and the like for this very problem.

They do look the same. Tried them before I went facelift, need a little modding to fit but they are a bit smaller, leaving a gap all round, looked a bit crap tbh. I'd save up for the clear lenses or go facelift

Just a few years ago was managing on abour £20 a time which would last a week,(I live about 5 mins from work) now getting close to £30. The way I figure, unless you're planning a long trip, why carry the unnecessary weight of a full tank around - every little helps or something..

Just seen this thread Good to see you're getting sorted with an alarm/immobiliser.. A decent system will stop your car from being nicked but I would back it up with something like a Disklok which should be enough of a deterent to stop anyone even thinking of trying to break in, in the first place.

Agreed.. this country seems more 'densely' populated than others if you know what I mean

Not sure the benefits of saving time and a few £ would be worth it. Theres some numpty drivers out there that will get confused or go through without looking - makes it best to stick to the no brainer system in place already.

like most add on steering locking devices (disklok excepted) so easy to just cut through the steering wheel - wont stop anyone but the most clueless thief.

£3500? really? That chain is state of the art security for you lol - once bought an Astra that came with a similar set up years ago.. Its not even de-tango'd For the money you'd want at least the last of the SS3s, beams engine with 50K or less on the clock and full leather etc etc

Its possible to get a leak from the seal where the d/s goes into the box but thats only usually if you've had the driveshaft off for some work and its not been re-fitted well or with a new seal. That said, you'd notice from where you park up if the gear oil had leaked - its very noticable (and smelly lol) re: bearings - when mine went it was extremely noisy towards the end, but was more of a knocking sound - sounded like someone with a hammer banging away under the car

Bit late now lol but I believe its only cat C that need the VIC check. I personally would be happy with a cat D as it doesn't show up on the log book that it has 'been substantially repaired' or something along those lines.. like a cat C does, making it easier to sell on. If you're brave you could even look into buying an unrepaired cat C or D straight from salvage auctions or dealer - but lately I found them to be over priced when compared to undamaged cars of the same kind.

I'd have had mine 11 years in March Still got the love, especially since sorting out a new clutch and other mechanicals. I still dont see anything I could replace it with.. they dont make or style cars like they used to! What I need to do now though is sort the bodywork - its not the pristine car I bought so long ago..

Theres more fuses inside the car, to the right and below the steering wheel behind a panel, one of which is 'gauge' could be worth a look.

Just wondering... Q: Did the Jap market get the convertible gen 6? Q2: Did the UK vert gen 6 get climate control or just standard manual A/C? cheers

I suppose its a nice idea though I'm not sure theres enough specific stuff to discuss about convertibles
