You know me, I don’t mind a prototype. It’s all simple well understood standard motorsport practice. Only difference here is that as far as I’m aware it’s the first time a celica has had this level of treatment.
Make it light, make it stiff and it’ll go fast. sounds like one of those internet memes.... things you can say in the bedroom and a car garage haha. It’ll be worth the effort, will be the best celica shell... anywhere I guess. Until you get into it of course @ESTHAR_CITY

Stuff...
First shell prep underway. Sat being roasted on the spit as we speak.
Seam welding underway, front clip has been chopped off and brackets for the bolt on/off front end in place, bulkhead holes being plated (still to be ground flush) in for fire protection and extra rigidity.
80l custom baffled and foam filled endurance race tank in fabrication now.
Lots going on, lots to still to do.- 4

The very latest NA Celica to be fitted with an MSDT manifold just made 214CHP.
Standard engine, standard intake, panel filter, stage 2 Cams, supertech valves and springs, MSDT manifold, custom 2.5” exhaust, mapped on link by RDT.
Who says NA tuning isn’t worth it. NOT ME.

Fuel system parts arriving... bit special these
Going to clean the interior right up this, I can get rid of the external swirl pot and HP pump. This CFC unit has integrated fuel surge tank and fuel pump hanger for use in most fuel cells. Will drop straight into the ATL foam filled 80L fuel cell. Should be a long term solution, hopefully never have to upgrade the fuel system ever again.

Winter works continue, chassis due back from pro-strip end of next week, in parallel the HC engine is coming back together.
Having calculated I needed to lose 2.5cc of combustion chamber volume to lower the CR for 13.7:1 to 13:1 I worked out how much piston I needed to remove. Following machining the pistons were re-balanced.
Given the chassis is getting the love it needs after 5 years of racing it seemed a shame not to make the most of the opportunity so all suspension and subframes have also been blasted and re-coated.
She should be light, fast and pretty for 2021. If we ever get out to race.

Major surgery occurring.
Last pieces of glass being removed, in for her swim this week at pro-strip. Will get a weight on a bare shell as she stands and then again after the dip.
Plan is to chop out all in-necessary metal (none structural) stitch/weld up any seams, plate any unnecessary or unused holes, seam seal her up, acid etch prime, 1k primer then 2k top coat. She will be Toyota super white outwardly and metallic grey for the underside, engine bay and interior with gravitex added to wheel arches for a little protection from stones.
Also cutting the front end off to make it easily removable for quicker engine changes should it be required so will cut the forward chassis legs just in front of the arches, plate them in and bolt it all back together.
Lots of work going into this one... again.
