  1. Sorry to see this Danny and glad you didnt end up broken too. Ref insurance it would be in your interest to scout around and make notes of classified adverts/prices for same age/model/spec higher end, dealer adverts etc. Forearmed could be the difference between you getting a decent price for yours or not. What you tell them its worth when take out insurance is not what they go by , oh and dont accept the first offer, it will always be lower than they are prepared to pay Good luck with the MR2 hunting
  2. Never used to like them but they've grown on me, wish you had got a pic of that though i'm struggling to imagine that combo looking good..... Great on a gen 5 gt4 too
  3. this was the sound mine made, putting the booster battery pack on it still did it, putting a new battery on it fired up straight away and been fine since
  4. I'd try a known good battery , mine i thought was ok but although lights up on dash it was just clicking fast when tried to start, new battery and it was fine. immobilisor i dont think as then it turns over but doesnt fire, as fuel isnt getting through
  5. sure i've seen it before, could be Looneys, trying to work out the lettering on the front wing i think that's Robs old car
  6. Happy 5 Anniversary arizona!

  7. Tyres out of shape sounds like what happened to my old Sirocco. Trip to Devon and back with a little heavy foot driving in places resulted in me limping onto the hard shoulder of the m25 not far from home with a definate strange feeling coming from the wheels Got out, could see nothing wrong Drove steady home and next day we took wheels off, give them a roll along , they will just fall over On closer looking they were actually twisted tyres not rated for right speed can do this cheap tyres old tyres - we think this may have been my problem, even if they have plenty tread they can be lethal i was lucky all four didnt blow out at hight speed
  8. gap? you mean the bit that fits along the front around the bonnet catch/rad fixings seen when the bonnet is up? plenty of breakers about if so and its a five min job to change boot struts tbh would do the same and pick some off a breaker that do work well, again easy job to change Ams will likely be able to help you out with any secondhand parts if you not confident to strip yourself at a local breakers yard
  9. yes, had to try it one evening on my ones for someone on here a couple of years back
  10. Glad you enjoying it, welcome back
  11. 99% sure it's Roger's Here's a post he made Dec last year.......I suspect it went through the recent mot but it was time to make a decision, lovely car
  12. Thanks keef-b would say this is certainly what this is It runs really well and pulls like a train but i'm not going to be needing it once the other one is ready so rather than stop the light coming on i'll stick bit of tape on for now and inform the new owner when its sold , then they can chose to do whichever Knew the sensor was expensive but
  13. Agreed Was on way to work this morning when the oil light flashed on on the motorway on the new one. Had chucked the 15/40 in the boot this morning as a just in case measure pulled over and stuck about half a ltr in just to get to next services so i could check it out am thinking this is just a dodgy sensor as it turned out to be fine, oil level on just over three quarters full its flashed on a couple of times since and at one point stayed on for 30 seconds or so. I'll be fixing that on the dash with a bit of black tape......
  14. This is a question i nearly asked on here this morning Sent a message to the fella i just bought from to see what he'd been using in it er i think it was 5/40 hmmm , usually run 10/40 but not really wanting to do an oil change yet should i need to top up i guess i need to pick up a couple of litres of 5/40 do have 4litres of 15/40 sitting on shelf here though,,,,,,,,,,
  15. Mine usually sits under a cover for the winter outside, a couple of dishes with a bit of bicarb of soda in but usually no problems anyway. My neighbour put her classic mini into a metal portacabin on the farm and left it there all winter, should have seen the interior when they pulled it out of there everything was covered in mould to their horror. This year i moved, my landlord is a gem he has offered to make space in the corner of one of the industrial units here
  16. air was too damp, as above really need to be indoors doing it now i been spraying this evening I'm the last tenant this property is having before redevelopment next year So i turned the spare room into a workshop and spray booth
  17. Covered in my list Ams, roof drains either side behind panels next to rear seat
  18. Hiya Sounds like you have some water ingress Checked carpets are dry, including under front seats? Boot wheelwell Open hatch door on left handside of boot panels, where the ariel is. Reach down and see if there is a collection of water in there, its common on all gen 6's not just verts. feel for a rubber pipe that should be feeding to outside but may have become detatched. Next is check the hood cover behind the rear seat, is this holding water? This then gets a bit more but is worth it if find you have a problem Remove rear seats and side panels this is where you may find you have water collected under the rear seat cushion (be careful not to knock/pinch wires to the fuel pump) Check for water in the recesses either side behind those panels, the drainage points may and quite possibly are blocked Also remove any bottles of liquid in the car Something with some cat litter (crystal type) bicarb of soda or a couple of the dehumidifier boxes designed for cupboards, homebase etc Frustrating
  19. ^^ This, you might be laying underneath it all day trying to cut/grind it off when you could be sitting having a cuppa while its done far quicker
