  1. Saw this over the weekend in our local paper, the EDP (Eastern Daily Press), not a bad article i thought. and keeping the Celica name alive in the general media http://www.edp24.co....ntent_1_1416195 What do you think ?
  2. Thanks guys, with the 205 top hose how different is it ? Is it length or just the pre-formed angles on the pipe ?
  3. Just a quick question, Are the top and bottom Radiator hoses for the the ST202 the same as the ST205 ?
  4. Coming up to 3 years in August, Still brings a smile to my face every time I'm in the car and catch a glimpse if her in a shop window. Love it.
  5. I too will be at Snett. for the BSB (Only just up the road from me.) Keep a look out for a Tropicana Gen 6 GT with twin, twin pipes. That'll be me.
  6. I can certainly vouch for those Bacon sarnies, they just hit the spot
  7. At the moment, slowly, (radiator needs replacing, knocking CV joint and the fuel light game on thismorning) Normally driven depending on mood and what tunes are coming out of the stereo. I always have fun in it though
  8. Poor ol' gal, Fi thought it a real shame that it's gone. Will shed a tear for you Chris.
  9. What a few guys at work use is Velcro, the heavy duty industrial stuff for a standard type of numberplate. Especially those that own / drive a Mk1 Elise. The cost of a number plate replacement is a damn sight less that a repair to a front clamshell. A few have the flexi stick-on adhesive ones which stick onto the upper surface of the bumper, but have come to grief with some jobsworth MOT testers and one had been pulled by Mr Plod for niot having a reflective plate.
  10. Think of what pressure you are putting into your combustion chamber with compressed air ? any leakage past the piston rings is going to pressurise your engine system, blow all sorts of crud around the breather system. In an extreme case, dependant on pressures used, you could end up unseating oilseals etc. Not what I would call a professional attempt at doing the job correctly, but that is just my oppinion.
  11. I've heard of people saying that they can replace valve stem seals without removing the head. Well, in my experience that is a pure myth. To be done properly it has to be a Head off job. How are you meant to compress the valve springs to remove the collets without some resistance on the valve head ? I even asked some of our engine build technicians at work about this question and they all rolled about laughing. So the answer is .... REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD.
  12. Am I losing the plot slightly here, Those so called bolts look more like a decorative rivet or sometimes called a rivbolt. I'm sure they are meant for a 1 use only, By removing them by turning them backwards and forwards you have actually broached the hole out to a larger diameter and worn the splines on the bolt so the chances of the rivbolts staying in place when refitted are greatly.diminshed.
  13. if you want to clamp the pipe I would not use the clamp straight onto the pipe as in the photo shown earlier. sharp corners can cut into the pipe and split it. I would get the narrow nosed version and slide a socket over each jaw, Thar way you have a rounded / radiused edge which contacts the rubber pipe.
  14. I originally thought this thread was about the US market with their "tires" rather than our "Tyres", (sorry Ian, being a bit pedantic here about spelling ) but after reading all the stuff about Axle speeds, revolutions of the wheel over X amount of millimeters, GPS measurements and speedo accuracy my brain has just exploded. I need a coffee or something a little stronger
  15. Not yet tried any of the premium V type fuels but I sure notice a difference in normal pump fuel to supermarket fuel. Recently Morrisons were doing 6p / ltr off so I did the deed and brimmed the tank. I got about 65 miles less to a tank full on that crap than I did using the standard Shell fuel I tend to use. so, not using mMorrisons stuff ever again on the Gen 6.
  16. I was having a think today while driving my Gen 6 over to pick one of my lads up from work, (yes... me thinking is a dangerous thing), but are there any cars in CCUK land which are "Special" in the automotive world.? I know the Celicas are special to all of us, but was thinking more of do any owners have a Celica which is famous for someting. Ex rally car, race car, been in a film, had a famous owner in the past etc., you know what sort of thing.
  17. Will a Tow bar for a 1990 Celica (gen 5) fit a Gen 6 ? I know it's an odd question to fit a tow bar to a Celica, but I need one for a motorbikebike trailer. Thanks in advance
  18. She in charge of house & catering loves it. The biggest problem is that every time i get in the car after her, I cripple myself.(seat base in highest position & as far forward as poss.) Also the stereo is usually cranked up to the max with the sub turned up too.
  19. I would never use washing up liquid on a vehicle, it contains salt so would speed up any corrosion on bare metalic parts and tends to dull paintwork.
  20. Mine is a Tropicana, Colour Code 756. As Johnyboy1976 said, the vin plate on the bulkhead, passenger side of the vehicle. the paint code should be the first 3 digits of the bottom line of bumbers on the plate. (well it is on mine anyway)
  21. Nice car but IMHO that "splodge" looks too feminine for my liking. Just my oppinion though, others may see it differently.
  22. Sorry to hear that. One point on CCTV. You probably won't be able to view it unless in accompanymet with a member of the BiB. (or unless it comes up on one of the dozens of TV programmes showing this sort of stuff.) I had an issue a year or two back where Mrs MB needed to view some CCTV footage and was told that if the store manager where she worked found ou then she and the person showing her the footage would be liable for dismissal and possible prossecution unless it was sanctioned bt the local constabulary. Needless to say we found other ways of getting the information.
  23. I was getting a similar noise on mine. but it's all gone now. Car was lowered, so got a new set of springs & fitted them. On fitting I did notice that the top mount had not been seated correctly by it's previous owner. The only noise I get now is a slight rumble on tight rh bends at speed, but that I can put down to some slight play in the CV joint.
  24. Shouldn't be a problem. The cars we produce at work have different size wheels fronts to rears. 16" fronts & 17" rears on the Elise.
