  5. Grids all the way. Jap metal needs 6-spokes, and those look chunkier and beafier than those on the Boost's. GTR looks alright, but would better suit a more angular car, not a curvy one like the Gen6...
  6. Jesus, according to howmanyleft.co.uk there are still over 19,500 gen7 140s registered! Compared to 1,869 190's and 729 GT's So 140s out-number 190s by around 7.5 cars to one?!
  7. There was a story about this problem floating around last year, everyone thought it was a bit of scaremongering but it was indeed a dodgey batch of pads. Is there a possibility that you have a set of those pads, when were they purchased?
  8. Like a Japanese E-Type. Only rarer. And not as pretty.
  9. Had a toad ai606 on 3 previous cars and would have one on the gen7 if the standard alarm wasn't adequate. Safe'n'sound fitted mine for about £300 with closure add-ons and proximity sensors. Has all the options for remote start etc if you want to add them. As for your fears about a tracker watching your speed, don't you have a 140 anyway?
  10. It was based on the Yaris not the Corolla/Celica platform, so probably only has a weedy 1.0? Or 1.5 VVTi
  11. This is an idea I've stolen from another forum I used to use... Rules are- -If you've received something interesting for your Celica (be it big, or small) you post up an image. If it's obvious enough then there's no need for a description, or you could get people guessing...even just from the packaging if you so wish. -Post up what you paid for it. This could be a bargain or RRP if you bought new or from auction, it helps indicate to other users the sort of price of things they may also wish to buy... -Post up where you bought it from To summarise- Pic, Price, Where? I'll get the ball rolling (this just got delivered)... Car Audio Direct for £199...
  12. I had this exact problem on my Gen 7. There was a small clip about 1" x 1" which was missing from one end, turned out to be lost in the spare wheel well.
  13. Don't like those concepts. However I'm surprised that this never went into production, given the success of the previous-Gen Celica drop-top...
  14. You can buy something from eBay which could be hidden in your ashtray to display internal and external temperatures for less than £5.
  15. I travelled to the isle of wight for my Celica! Unfortunately for me the paintwork wasn't great but it was a bit late to turn back afterwards! Good luck with the sale, what's the new car?
  16. If only I could find a VVTi-190 badge. It seems wrong putting a T-Sport badge on (even if that's what it is on the insurance database) as the V5 states it's a VVTi-190. I de-badged it cos the old badge was knackered
  17. I imagine something could be made from fiberglass if something bespoke is made first that can be used to produce moulds. Why not remove the foglights if it bothers you to that extent? They are not a requirement at the front of the car anyway.
  18. I was looking at 320d's before settling on the Celica as I was hoping to save money on fuel. As it happened nearly all the BMWs in my budget were as rough as assholes and many had rust (ok 2 out of the 3 I looked at) whilst inside they are nice places to be I just couldn't find any reason for the insurance cost vs. the car I was getting. It's expensive no matter what and I'll only ever own a BMW when I can afford a fairly new, highly-specced model and insurance on top! Don't do it mate, you'll likely only be disappointed. If you don't do too many miles but want a small fun car what I'd do is buy a Yaris T-sport with the 1.5 engine. So rapid around town but also well-equipped, so you can save your pennies for something really meaty. Before anyone says they're a shopping cart I couldn't 'outrun' one from the lights in my Celica until I hit the top of 2nd gear
  19. USB Splitter probably won't work, I know my dad was trying to get multiple pen-drives to work off the USB socket in his Insignia. He has to take the live wire and make it switchable between ports, even then it didn't work very well. Best way to reap the benefits of that Headunit? Get an iPhone.
  20. Says 99k I reckon it's probably worth a little bit less than that, being an import and not anything very special.
  21. Not the worst thread by far buddy. I've seen the toyota child seats advertised on eBay before, maybe there is a contact number you could try? I was in a similar position to yourself very recently, unfortunately my girlfriend has now had her second miscarriage so I'm in no hurry to sell the Celica off just yet, also what with using child seats belongning to our nephews recently proved that it can be done easy, and there would be loads of access if my drivers seat would slide forward when I asked it....
  22. Pretty sure the UK cars don't have the ISOfix child seat anchor points, whereas the American models do (as they are mandatory on all cars with rear seats). There are instructions on a label attached to the seatbelts in the rear of the car, something about extending the belt to it's full extent so it locks....
  23. I had these on my MX5 and found the grip level to be fantastic. So much so that the 130bhp could not unstick them anymore for roundabout hoonery, so I put them on the front and put the more worn tyres on the back
  24. I know you're fairly local to me buddy so thought I'd plug Finishline UK who are just outside of Stevenage, their work is top-notch (plus they usually have something exotic in the workshop you can look at!) www.finishlineukltd.co.uk
