  1. sort of buy the car , then either insure it in roi ( not easy without a roi address unless the sellers a nice guy ,,, use his ) or insure it as you say through the usual channel but from the vin number if insured with roi bring it over and drive it knowing you have 6 months to sort it out , dont forget to tell the insurance company straight away of a change of address , roi insurance is just the wrong side of how feckin much if insured here bring it into the docks , then either book a local mot and drive it there perfectly legally or trailer it away , if you do book it in for the mot understand you are allowed to go directly to and from the mot so book it at your local place and not at the port so now you have the mot and insurance , get the registration form from your local dvla or online , fill it in and they will do 1 of 2 things , they will either request to see the car ( trailer it there and back ) or will send you the paperwork and reg through the post , you can do it the same day if you so wish , you will also have to pay for 6 months tax at the same time there can be an issue with paperwork and tax/vat , if the cars less than 10 yrs old you could be nailed for tax , if its over theres still a chance but ifs its been registered in the eu then normaily they ignore this as it will need to have been paid to get that registration in the host country , they can demand the paperwork to see its been paid though so be warned , another do what now ! thing is you cant drive to the mot centre with plates on , you will need to go plateless , its legal and ill be buggered if i know how but this is what i was informed and did ! felt wrong going there and did you know a gsx750 katana will hit 133 ? it did on the way back now me ive got a trade insurance can do what i please , theres still a sea of paperwork but i can go there , buy and drive it home regardless
  2. it cant be helped the wheels are off , this means it was picked up by a forklift and the wheels removed , the sills will be new and interesting shapes and the floor pan may also have a different aspect to toyotas ideas ,,,, sideways pin striping , the exhaust may also be donald ducked nope correct , the chassis is attached to the reg number so yes you could do this , friggin lot of work involved and a fair few grand only other thing that can be done is to errrr cheat , perminatly export the car for a few months then bring it back in and register it asking for a different number to the last one that was used IF they suss it , this avoids the scrappage scheme , there is no way of unregistering a car in the uk so its about as close as you can get
  3. get back with her , get the camera out and get those pictures posted up every friggin where , betrayal of trust = bye bye bunny boiler
  4. you got off lightly , just a mild bottling and a bit of damage , now my mrs is from salford so im with her forever ,,,,,,,,,and ever ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and ever tears
  5. i think there was something like 30 sold in the uk in 1999 and seeing as one got broken not that long ago lets call it less than 30 are out there , theres quite a few in and from japan however most are in the hands of importers who couldnt rape you more if they tried , were talking 6-8 grand or even more ! ok you get a warrenty but i doubt its worth 4 grand , best bet is simply keep on googling and amongst the 1001 st or sr adverts theres perhaps a little gem waiting to be found
  6. ok if this helps petrol has vrs chemicals in it that do vrs things , back in the day lead was added as a lubricant , when a valve opens and closes it slams into its opposing face , the lead would line between the valve and the valve seat acting as a cushion , when leaded became removed then older cars had a chance of accelerated wear , this only effected the valve seat though and it was and is possible to simply recut it and line with harder materials i would assume the same things happening , i cant see the viscosity ( thickness ) being any different so that rules out fuel lines and injectors , flash values would also be almost unchanged i would have thought so really i can only see the lubrication issues being the main problem , if this is all it turns out to be then simply expect your valve faces to wear out every 50 thou , a pain in the arse so sort out and would cost approx 400 to sort out if you dont fancy rebuilds , the only other thing it could be would be air/fuel mixture which would require the car to need to run rich as a bastard , given most of the gens run rich anyway its not a bad thing and we may not notice anything at all
  7. bloody typical , ive just moved out of the tamworth district now and im in leicestershire very sad to hear of all this
  8. sad thing is i have that exact comic around somewhere , plus if the old girl doesnt get me the latest annual for xmas then im going to piss on her pillow
  9. this is easier than i first thought the answer is ...... GT4 simple reason is if your not happy about the power on a gt then the 190s not going to set your world alight either , its not its a slow car at all but you need to rev the tits off it to get into the serious power wheres a gt4 has it on tap ..after a little turbo lag driven slowly which isnt easy as the powers there teasing you in the backround you will crack 30 mpg , the gen 7 will piss this mind , the gt4 isnt unreliable either , at 90 odd the suspension shows wear , at about the same time the clutch is a gone-er , at 120 all the suspension will have needed changing , at 150 ish the clutch will once again be wearing out and the some suspension components , head gaskets from 150-200 depending on useage along with the turbo , so really its after the 150 thou you come across anything other than consumables , this is rather impressive given the pace of the dam thing IMO , cant be said of all other proformance cars out there , 100 and s13/14`s are normally completely shagged , scoobys at 30 onwards , rx7 about the same , hard to think of a car in the same league really id say get a gt4 , run it a while and if your ok with its running costs your sorted
  10. yep sure is , quire rare as it doent exactly improve the looks
  11. http://cars.donedeal.co.uk/for-sale/vintagecars/2565702 http://cars.donedeal.co.uk/for-sale/vintagecars/2490307 im with andy , 7-10 grand , it was simply one of the best in the country plus with a fully documented history and modifications worth a small fortune on there own perhaps it would be possible that the club print out an estimate of its value on headed notepaper to be presented to the insurance company ?
  12. dont quite agree , sort of do the mot is just a bit of interior , now a type s ...... now were cooking , not easy to find though as for celicas , i wouldnt call them expensive to run whatsoever , id concider them cheap , my hiace kills 75 quids worth of dirty diesel in 266 miles , thats not a 1 off , thats every time , and thats me driving like grandma would be proud to get that although if you do wheelspin it everywhere then it makes no difference on the fuel , as for repairs id say there shit cheap , its so easy to get hold of stuff and always at the right price , price up a 205 dizzy cap then a vaux v6 dizzy cap and you will see what i mean
  13. couldnt agree more our kid tried to sell his red st202 last month , starting bid 500 quid and a reserve at a grand , the car looks 100% perfect in the pictures and almost as good in the flesh , good paint , zero rust , microscopic dents can be found if you look , its red so a great colour , reasonable miles running fantastic with a very recent mot , the result ? not a single bid , not even a punt now this could be xmas coming , could be a general downturn , could be insurance but either way i just cant find a car of the same quality for the same money so its an oddity people were not ringing his doorbell off the friggin wall so from this i recon theres a mixture of things and that the cars arnt commanding the same sort of money , this makes them even more of a bargain but a bit of a twat if you already own 1 i also notice the gen 5 is slightly sneeking up in value but only on good `uns , rotted sheds are still only good for scrap , the 15 seems to have gained a few quid , not loads but still a little more , perhaps a good investment ? cs is still VASTLY overpriced by a few , i recently had a proper laugh and someone asked a shade under 7 grand for 1,,, as if ! and theres also been one listed on here for silly money , ok its had a shed load of work which would make it worth a good 4 grand if you can find someone who wants it , it will be a strain but at 6 grand not a feckin chance , much as i love my celicas theres only so much id pay , when you look at what you can own for 6 grand then try to reflect this onto a gen 5 then its clear somethings off so id say if you want 1 nows the time to buy and trust me im looking , i fancy either brendans car but not at £4500 , another cs but must be near the same condition as my last 1 , or a 205 making around the 300 bhp but without the suspension about to make my wallet explode or the clutch more than half dead , not easy to find
  14. well gen 6 will be kept up by a 7 but its not easy to drive everywhere with a bazzillion revs on it so real world the 6 wins ,,,, until you come to a petrol station , horses for courses you scooby mate simply thinks the sun shines out of scoobys arse , the real world is there cars as unreliable , bloody expensive to run , the king of chav and simply no-where near the suspect reputation , eddy murphy sums it up well from his raw dvd back in the day , `` theres a rumour going around that ive got a 12 inch cock ..... i know ..... i started it `` that kindda explains the reputation , yeah they go well but just not for long , give um a bit and its 30 thousand mile rebuilds , give it alot and lets call it 15 shall we that is unless its the 2.5 at which point it will go bang before this even , exterior there a soddin taxi with funky lights and a spoiler , a massive understatemet of intent , all go and no show in a world where you cant use the go , cleverrrrrrrr , the interior is also a delight if your blind but if not a cheap tacky mess , to me theres simply better out there , better looking , better go , better everything really , the only good thing i have to say about them are there cheap to buy , beyond that there just another to me i remember having a scooby on an island im my old beams , it sounded like it was doing about 9000 rpm and yet i still went bye bye , wasnt much in it but it cheered me up no end , also my friends 280 brake special edition 300 ( yeah i dont get it either ) can keep up with my old cs , just as bloody well really concidering hes into it at 10 grand
  15. nah not a club , theres a couple been around including one recently sold with blacked out arse lights , i think thats whats throwing you gen 6 well the first isnt to my taste , the seconds ok and i love the wheels , id loose the 3 poster for a 2 though
  16. ohhhh arrrrr , our kids got my beams now and he works not too far from you colour ? black , the best , friggin pain to live with if you want a clean car , i stuck with it but soon gave up white , second best , easy to live with , shows the shit nicely , hides dents green , not that snotty green , yummy gen 5 turq green , in the flesh its sooooooo nice , modern looking and easy to live with reds photo well but look wank in the flesh , silvers yawn , dark blues not black but the lighter is ok , the really lights friggin horrid , that funcky silvery blue is ok i guess , the dark green isnt black white if i have to live with it , black if i dont
  17. gt4`s an epic car but will kick you in the bollocks to run , cant knock the fun per £ factor but it will test your wallet over time so what to do ? well being honest your not going to easily get more than a few more ponys out of a 3s-ge without serious money being spent on it , look at that throttle bodyied beastie recently , feckin brilliant on every level ( apart from colour ) , superb , wonderfull , he wants 3 grand + and he simply wont get it , this is the life of the celica im afraid , you do not get back what you put into them , you do get trouble free motoring and a bloody good looking car but you loose a few quid if you modify so me id aim for a beams , simply put its a normal celica with 3 grands woirth of stuff already fitted , the difference is so difference it takes time to get bored , every time i see our kid its `` it wheelspins in second easily dad `` and lovely arse clenching statements like these ( im watching you rich ..... ) , so to me source a beams , there out there , there bloody good fun , they look miles better than a gt4 and a normal ss-11 , 2 grand is nothing it really isnt , to me a v6 is cool but a beams is the complete package , now a beams with an ecu on it ,,, thats wheelspin in 3rd in the dry then from our kid
  18. what plugs were in it ? sounds like softer plugs were fitted
  19. i started mine a fortnight ago , it still has sleeping bags in it from jae lets say shed
  20. simply put they cant , how can anyone know what the cars spec was when it was created ? even toyota wont know after all this time and its not possible or likely that anyone including the cops could find out as paperwork isnt held for long and then its in japanese anyway
  21. 97 onwards for beams so this isnt as its 2 yrs too old
  22. i would say power the reason ? handling is the fastest way of geting a car round a race track but we dont drive tracks as a normaility , decent standard suspension is good enough for everyday use so you only get a decent benifit when down on a track , however coilovers feel great untill you drive the rutted mess that is the uk road system , tribanding , curbs , potholes and shit repairs mean a car with the very best suspension simply will never get to use it to its capacity and being honset and im far from an angel here you need to ask just how quick can you go on public roads and is it a good idea to be taking it to the extremes of grip in public ? on the track then hell yeah , decent suspension plus decent brakes and tyres will make you brake and sling it into the twisty stuff faster than it seems is possible to the point its not eay to hold on and it can evenbecome painfull , but out in public then ponys are the smiles per mile , slapping the FUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK pedal on the way out of islands is a dam site more fun when you have 400 brake plus 400 brake doesnt mind speedbumps , on the track though some little twat with 150 brake and coilovers in his glanza v is always going to annoy the shit out of anyone even when they have 400 bhp track , suspension road , power
  23. it died at the next laybye after you came past , such is life aye lol
