Jim881
Hi all, What would cause this. New discs and pads and refurbed calipers. Other side is working fine. Edited July 17 by Jim881
bazz54
Could that have had some corrosive liquid spilt on it? If it's got something corrosive on it then it needs a good wash with water, preferably with some detergent which is free of both wax and any chloride, then dried off with perhaps IPA? No buddy, they were wiped with IPA post fitting so I'm not sure... Just now, _Chris_ said: Driving like an old grandma. Not yet bedded in. other side is fine. Thought that so I did some hard braking yesterday hoping it would resolve.
_Chris_
I would still say it's just not bedded in yet. You might find the caliper is at a very slight angle, possibly rust or dirt on the mounting pointing points or bent sliders. It just needs the pads to wear enough over the area it's touching to bring the rest of the pad into contact.

I’ve seen this happen on my car too particularly when I had my Brembo rear brakes and discs done along with new OEM rear calipers so just keep driving like Miss Daisy for a little while longer and don’t do any handbrake turns…given that your whole rear system is brand new! bazz54
I fitted new discs on the back of my Rover about 18 months ago. It was MoT'd fairly soon after and I got an advisory that one side was marginal on both the main brake and the parking brake. It seemed to drive ok to me and I did nothing to change it. At the next MoT everything was deemed good and the opinion was that it was just a case of not having bedded in at the first MoT.
ams
Check the pads are sliding easily, can get this when there is too much paint on the pad or caliper or if the pins are grabbing it. Assume caliper sliders and the bolts are moving freely as well?
Jim881
Well they are fine. I noticed friction from the slider pins which is strange as everything was new. Packed even more ceramic grease in and they have been fine ever since.
