Would be interesting to get peoples advice upon how to go about selling on my 2004 Celica 140 Red Edition (Red leather interior)

There is no urgency in the decision but due to reasons of no longer wanting to commit to the upkeep of a 20+ year old car, it would be nice to pass it on to someone keen.

Also, for what i use it for; going to Tesco once a week, and one other 25 mile round trip a week, a Yaris would work fine and be more economical in all running costs.

It passed the MOT last November, but with advisories about rust that will need attention most probably before the next MOT.

My MOT guy is a straight shooter, he's been MOT checking out my Celica over the past decade and he really likes it and considered a bit of welding underside is well worth doing.

(i got no idea how much this work would cost tho').

It drives really well with no issues, excellent F1 Eagle tyres, custom SS exhaust, a few years ago suspension & brake overhaul, plus new rad, A/C condenser, alpine speaker upgrade, low milage at genuine 76k miles with engine that doesn't burn any oil. Plus i'm only the second owner, first one 10 years me 11.

Everything works, upper bodywork is far from perfection but looks respectable for year, the only one big issue is rust as mentioned on the MOT advisory.

Is it really better to get the welding done before putting on the market?

Or sell for less and let the keen new owner take up the challenge?

Or perhaps simply trade the car in when buying a Yaris? (i know the answer to this - probably not...)

Anyway, thoughts would be nice to hear thanks in advance.

Plus an honest evaluation figure would be helpful cos i have absolutely no clue as to what i should be asking for (?) ...not street wise me 🤔

For anyone considering visiting Japan - do it!

I got back from a trip around Japan in October and it was by far the best trip I have ever taken. I was there for just over two weeks and visited Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka.

While I was in Tokyo I went to Daikoku for the weekend car meet, I've never seen so many insanely modified cars in one place. I won't bore you with loads of photos but here are two Celica's that were there. The Gen 6 couldn't be more stock ironically and was the only unmodified car there.

Then on the way back, got involved in some friendly street racing

Then went on to Hakone and rented a MK4 Supra, then went driving around the mountains by Mt. Fuji.

Later in the trip, made a special effort to go out to Nagoya to visit the Toyota Museum. It was massively out of the way but so worth it. Here's a few Celica-Related pictures.

The challenge is to post a photo of your Celica with a nominated building or landmark in the frame.

The person who posts the photo then suggests the next building or landmark to be posted - again with a Celica clearly visible.

As long as the building or landmark is not obscure or un-accessible this could prove to be an interesting, long running thread that will take time to develope.

Also it is a chance to show-off your Celica.

So for starters - who will be the first the post a photo of their Celica near the new Spinnacre building in Portsmouth?

	I need some help.

I fitted coilovers to my 2003 Celica around a month ago with all new delphi anti roll bar links. The manufacturer of the coilovers (meister r) says they are designed to use the OEM drop links and dont need shortened/ adjustable ones.

Ive started hearing a large clonk but only when hitting deep potholes at speed, i investigated a bit and it looks like both front drop links, top and bottom joints the boots have absolutely no grease in them, this is what ive out the noise down to as everything else looks as it should.

Obviously I need new drop links, but I dont want this to happen again as it doesnt seem like a one off fault if its happened on both sides. Is this a failure of the drop links or is it more likely to be caused by the new coilovers placing more stress on the drop links causing them to fail (even still, in less than a month's seems odd)

What would you all reccomend I do?

	Many thanks.

Sometime ago, a friend was singing the praises of these "ceramic waxes", but I tried one and was not impressed. Since then, I keep seeing good reports on Google about this Meguiars stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVOFlynVxco.

I've reached an age where spending hours using old style cream waxes is hard to do on my two cars, and this looks all together easier.

Note the emphasis in the video that your first application needs to be done differently from subsequent applications.

So got these pads for the rear from eBay seller simplycarparts and they seem to be fake.

The box arrived with the seal cut open. One pad is considerably thinner than the others and pads seems to have rust on them

Either ferodo quality control has flopped big time or iv been scammed.

What are your thoughts? The box looks legit but I think the pads were swapped out.

Had a great day in the week. My Celica was involved in a photo shoot for the Classic & Sports Car magazine, taking Malcolm’s place I must add, mine and a Mk2 Capri and a Vauxhall Firenza were there. Many pictures were taken including a lot of driving shots which I think will make great pictures. Simon Hucknall who organised it drove each car which was strange for me as I’m the only one who’s ever driven it apart from the mot tester. Apparently it will be in the September edition, so looking forward to that. Nice that my car has been getting some recognition lately. Hopefully all good for the club.

Awesome day at Santa Pod yesterday.

No idea what was wrong with the car when I got there though. Drove the 130 miles there perfectly fine, parked up to get some tickets, tried to start the engine again to drive into the venue - it screached, it squealed, wouldn't rev properly kept cutting out and at one point even put out smoke.

So I did the only sensible thing, let it cool down, tried it again and it was pretty much ok so decided to do some runs down the 1/4 mile and then drive the 130 miles back home. Didn't miss a beat. Even parked up to nip into the supermarket near home and it restarted perfectly.

Managed about 16 seconds on the strip, not breaking any records but it was huge fun. My friend has a Fiesta ST which has been tuned a bit and there was about 1/100 of a second between us.

Some incredible cars on show and running the 1/4 mile too. Really enjoyed it.
