  • Description 158bhp, 16 valves, twin OHC, four cylinders, 5 speed manual. Always garaged and only 118,319 miles on the clock.

I am her second owner and I will have owned her for 32 years in August.

Sadly, she has been SORNed since 30/11/2023. She failed her MOT, due primarily to a power steering leak - rusted metal pipe needs sourcing and replacing. The garage were not interested in trying to search for a part so it was left for me to mull over.

Part 44406 is a solid pipe which travels from the power steering fluid reservoir to the PS cooler. It has rusted out somewhere above the back of the drivers's / front offside wheel which is why the newspaper below is sodden. Using a flexible pressurised hose to run alongside and effectively bypass 44406 has been suggested.

NB Part 44402-20350 was replaced in March 2022 at 117k miles to resolve the leaks in the Power Steering Cooler Sub Assembly. Toyota did not make that part anymore but a Mishimoto Universal Transmission Power Steering Cooler was sourced from Demon Tweeks.

Other reason for MOT failure was needing a CV Boot and a new brake disc, both of which could be sourced.
In August 2021, she had a new Alternator and Auxiliary Drive Belt.

For the good of the car, it is time to get her back on the road with a new owner to care for her. Would be lovely if you are reading this and think it could be you. I absolutely love "Celica". She has been an absolute pleasure to drive and is still a cracker of a car.
