Gen 7 seats in Gen 6
From Wiki
Ok you've acquired a set of Gen 7 seats and you want to fit them in your Gen 6. Firstly you're going to need the assistance of a competent welder ! This is not a job for the faint-hearted or unskilled.
We'll start with the rear seats as this is a very easy job to do. You do end up with a small gap at the edges but it's not a major issue.
1) Fold down one of the rear seat backs so it is flat on the base of the bench seat. Peel back the bottom of the seat backing and you will see 2 gold coloured bolts holding the hinges onto the seat back. Remove both of these bolts.
2) Press both corners of the seat back by the hinges and you will see the retaining lugs that help keep the bolt hole in position move out of the seat back. The seat back pad can then be slid out from the hinges. Put it out of the way.
3) Repeat this unbolt process for the other side. Leave the Gen 6 hinges in place as the Gen 7 seats can use these.
4) You're now left with the Gen 6 seat base. This has a 'handle' around the central hinge and is also clipped into place in the centre of the 'buckets' at the front edge of the base. Simply 'pull' the base from the front edge and the 2 recessed clips will release. Then lift the 'handle' over the central hinge. The seat base can now be removed from the car.
Tip - have a look for loose change now - I found about £2 when I did this.
5) Take your Gen 7 rear seat base and fit it into the car just as the Gen 6 seat base was fitted. The 'handle' fits over the central hinge and the retaining clips will hold the front of the base down.
6) Now get one of the Gen 7 rear seat backs lie it on the seat base (face down) and pushing down the bottom edge under the hinges, the retaining lugs on the bolt mounts on the hinges should clip into the holes for them - the bolt holes will then be lined up. Re-insert the bolts you removed from the Gen 6 backs and tighten up. Do not overtighten as you may snap a bolt.
7) Repeat the process for the other half of the rear seat back. You will have a small gap on the sides of the seat base.
8) Sit down and have a rest - but it shouldn't have taken you more than 20 minutes to swap these seats out.
The finished result !
OK onto the front seats - these are more complex and will require some power tools - a willing friend and the skills of an experienced welder.
1) Start by removing the mounting brackets from one of the Gen 7 seats (we started with the drivers seat) This meant grinding down some mounting lugs and drilling out the welds which held the Gen 7 mounts onto the runners.

2) Remove the Gen6 front seats, and again cut off the mounting points. It's advisable to do one seat at a time.

3) Now you need to spot weld these mounts onto the Gen 7 runners and trial fit the seats in the car.
You should put a damp cloth around the area when you're welding to protect the seats and the carpeting.
