Dynamat Xtreme Door kit Install

[edit] Items Required

  • Dynamat Xtreme Door Kit (really does help follow this guide!)
  • Dynamat (or Wallpaper coz its cheaper) edge roller
  • Philips Screwdriver
  • 6mm Flat head screwdriver
  • Long blade scissors
  • Craft knife
  • Hairdryer (if not warm and sunny environment)

[edit] Time Required 3-4hours

Remove all screws around door trim. There are two behind screw covers near front of door, one underneath the arm rest, two along the bottom and one behind the plastic trim above the door handle.

Gently pull the door trim from the bottom and lift out and up to release it from the top edge of the door. Unclip the two cables from the rear of the door handle/lock mechanism and put the trim to one side

Carefully remove the plastic covering the interior of the door, making sure you don't split it.
Remove the connections to the speakers and undo the three screws to remove the larger midrange speaker

[edit] Now the fun begins!!!

At this point I had no idea what shaped pieces were required to fit the door but as it happens the 2 pieces per door of dynamat xtreme work out very nicely and now that I have done the install, here are the shapes you need to cut from them (measurements in cm) for the passenger door. Note these are with the metal side upwards and you will need to reverse the diagrams to do the drivers door.

Take the middle-left piece but don't remove the backing just yet. Trial fit it to the section between the two impact bars towards the left of the door as you face it, which With a bit of sliding left/right, should fit snugly between them.
Remove half the backing and stick in place. When you are happy it is in position, gradually remove more of the backing and press into position
Use the roller to make sure that the piece is securely attached to the outer skin.

Take the top-right piece (leave the square piece for later) and turn it upside down. Slide this piece along the inside and fix in place using the roller to smooth out any ridges.

Fix the remaining cut pieces in a similar fashion from the 2nd sheet of dynamat and they will look something like this when installed

You are now left with just a square of dynamat which can be affixed to the inner door skin over the speaker hole. This acts to dampen the speaker chassis movement which in turn means less panel vibration and more muzak user posted image
Using the yellow clip and impact sensor align the piece as in the picture below. Make sure you really do roller the extreme matting so that it follows the contours on the door skin which can also be seen in the picture.

Using the craft knife cut several slats in the dynamat covering the whole Fold them back so that they cover the edge of the opening and the rear side behind the speaker hole.

Replace the plastic sheeting and make sure you press is firmly back into place so as to form a waterproof seal once again.
Replace the speaker making sure it firmly screwed back in so as to press into the dynamat sheeting underneath.

I'll leave you to put the trim back on as in true Haynes manual - Re-installation is the reverse of the above process user posted image
Congrats you have done one door, the 2nd doors takes about half the time.
Now turn your headunit on and hear what a difference it makes as you should find that it will appear louder without altering the volume.
Hope this guide helped but if you need any further advice then please post on the forum.
