GENERATION 2 In 1980 Griffith International in America created a convertible based on the Coupe, the Sunchaser, and a year later a Targa top version of the liftback, the TX22. 12 Sunchasers were sold in the UK (built by Aston Martin Tickford), and 8 TX22s.

I suppose its a nice idea though I'm not sure theres enough specific stuff to discuss about convertibles  :D

Plenty of specific issues;

Fabric care

Model & part numbers

Soft-top mechanisms

Pitfalls & benefits of vert ownership

Repair & services/suppliers

Finding a tonneau

Original documents

History

... all different for convertibles

Agreed, surely the stuff you need info on are Gen Specific rather than needing a Vert Forum? Or maybe I'm wrong?

It would open the floodgates for people, (as already started re: autos, for members wanting other specific forums? Turbo forum. Nitrous forum. Lagoon Blue Gen 7 forum.........

I'm not knocking the idea, just my opinion. Would love a drop top.

(please don't section me off when organising the JAE stand coughdrop!)

I don't really see the harm in it if it will stop them moaning that they haven't got a forum, but as Arvi says, it might open the floodgates.

Perhaps all the classifications need a re-jig? When I want to ask about a mod, should it go in the mod forum, or the Gen-7 forum so as not to bore all the gen 1-6 owners? But hey, it's sort of audio related, so should it go in there? :D

What will happen to 5th gen convertable owners who are interested in a soft-top mod? Where would they post?

All very interesting thoughts, but still should not prevent us asking for a Forum. The majority of vert owners answering on the lost thread wanted a Forum & I think its useful for us to try & justify why on this thread. I'm sure when they've spotted the new thread we will get some further opinions.

It may be that a sticky in GD is enough to keep the key vert information safe.

Surely this club must have some rules? :D If it's just a case of getting enough members to vote for it, then bring it on and let democracy decide it...

Well I suspect it gets raised in the staff room, admin take a view & post their answer.... Although on other sites I have seen far more fora, there may be good reason to limit them.

We already have a GT4 forum.

Same thing, IMHO. Is there such a harm in having another seperate forum to dealwith those issues? The vert drivers might become more active if they have a place to go to discuss their toplessness. If it proves to be impopular (gen 4 topic, anyone?) it could always be merged with existing forums. :D

So let's just have one general discussion topic. Audio mods go in the Audio forum (which should really be a subforum of the mods forum, IMHO), other mods go in the mods forum, and generation specific things go in the generation specific forum. How is that confusing? :?

Admin why don't you do this on a trial basis temp to perminat. Its not like you have ignored the rest of us whom wanted the post count to remain  , as Dublet has said there is a GT4 section so why not a vert section. Also whilst you guys are at it create a technical document section as well, that is needed also.

i think it'll also be good for future reference point. Right now, if i want to do a search for convertible topics, it's not that easy as people use many different terms to define thier cars - i.e. convertble, cabriolet, ragtop, etc
