MG Autos - 01773 745400

Ask to speak to Dave.

Mine was £400, everything off from underneath, cleaned off, dried, cavity wax and underseal.

I left it there for a week as it had a cambelt change etc aswell

Some places charge as little as £80 but that's a quick wizz over with an aerosol can!

If you've got the facilities, patience and don't mind getting messy then it can be done yourself but £400 is money well spent on it IMHO

Right just spoke to Dave at MG Autos and Ams was pretty much spot on, £1k inc VAT, that's strip suspension, subframe, sills and tank, clean and treat and also have the subframe powder coated, I asked how much they'll charge to fit new coil overs and exhaust since they'll have to take the old ones off anyways and they quoted me £65 a corner plus £100 wheel alignment which to me is pretty steep considering they'll have to put suspensions and exhaust back on anyways so may as well just fit the new lot but he did say to me to bring down my motor and he'll have a look at it and he can probably work out a deal, but £1k to have to underside properly treated sounds good to me so it's now a race against time to get the cash together before summers over. Many thanks to Paul for the recommendation and thanks to Ams for his advice and of course everyone else who had an input. Cheers guys, much appreciated

Price went up lol so to get the car under sealed, subframe powder coated and petrol tank removed, area clean and sealed all in £1150 with alignment too, hopefully will book it in within 4 weeks, does anyone know how easy/hard it is to remove the side skirts, he was worried about damaging clips etc when removing them as he specialises in Evo's and I told him il take it off if it's a simple job

Underseal is sticky, think it goes hard during winter because of the drop in temperature, £1100 is a lot but only needs to be done once every 10 years or so with top ups in between which I can do myself, but in my opinion it's an investment rather than having it rust away to nothing

Underseal will go hard once its put on the car, its a lot thicker than stonechip

1100 quid is a lot to spend on 1500 quid car.

Depends how you look at it, if you are keeping the car then its worth it, but if you are someone who buys cars for a few grand uses them until they get a big bill and then replaces them then no its not worth it. Same goes with a lot of big jobs on these cars now - if the engine goes - you could probably buy a whole car for less than the cost of fitting a replacement.

Have a look at some of the threads on here - there are people who have spent £1000s and even tens of thousands on cars they paid under a £1000 for.
