Best method for gen6 visor removal...Sorted :) but....

Recommended Posts

Ok so unfortunately my rear visor is almost sold, I've dun a test run and removed the brackets and it does lift a little, I can see the double sided tape and it does lift but what's a good and safe removing method so i don't scratch the boot lid or break the spoiler?

V hot water.

Trim removal pliers.

Hair dryer.

don't use boiling water! made that mistake on my Glanza and it fucked the paint right up!

I normally use a hair dryer and a lot of tar/glue remover in between.

Cheers I shall give the boiling water method a massive swerve :)

goodluck with the glue mate.

Im not 100% sure whether you can get it all off without leaving some marks etc.

fingers crossed time :)

Cheers Jason I shall cross my fingers too and I've got some autogard scuff remover that is awesome for the residue left :)

petrol will melt the glue and allow you to remove it with a plastic scraper

Hmm will the petrol foul or even damage the paint that what worries me?

Also do I need to leave the petrol to soak into the glue tape? :)

Ok so the spoiler is off and I hardly lifted a finger...

My buyer removed it and I applied the heatgun :)

Been left with some shitty glue tho so will get the heatgun on it tomorrow to remove the rest followed by autogard scuff remover then meguires meguires ultimate compound. Cheers for all the help guys and gals.
