How long have you had your Celica?

Recommended Posts

I thought it might be interesting to find out how long people have had their Celica? I'm guessing some of the guys with early Gens may have had theirs a while, but not necessarily.

If you've had one, sold it, missed it and bought it back - I guess you could add the years together!

Who's had theirs the longest? Who's only just bought theirs this weekend?

Any quirky or poignant story attached to the car or purchase?

i bought mine back in october 2012 with a ppi claim and as i had been a vauxhall man i wanted to go to the darkside and i bout my 53 tsport for £2300 with 97k on the clock in storm blue, so in just under two years ive enjoyed the celica and have been changing a few things to my preference as well

still more things to do but heres my just under two years story :

i wanted a white one from the word go, at the time, the only two in the UK up for sale was Adam Taylors, from his first time trying to sell, and a guy called Wullie in fife. i live in Portsmouth middle of the south coast. after a few back and forth with Adam, he pulled out the sale as he had put too much into it recently with a gearbox rebuild, so had a word with Wullie and booked a one way flight to Scotland, then taxied from the airport to his house. test drove it, loved it, done the deal, and spent an epic 7 hours drive on the way home!!

she has had a few quid spent on it over the years, i have had her now just over 5 years i think

when she arrived home on my old drive way...

And how she was recently...

I've had my Gen6 for what has just passed 10 years. I bought it when I turned 18 when my Clio decided it didn't want to live anymore and pretty much exploded on the A66. I'll be honest I just can't seem to part with it now. There has been times when it has been locked away in the garage due to me working away but after all that time it still starts first time, every time.

I paid £1800 for it back then and its been worth every penny! Even now when I take her out on the weekend I still say to my girlfriend 'God damn, I love that car' when I come home.

Bought in 2009 with 47k on the clock, totally green around the gills when it came to working on cars & it was definitely staying stock!... Modding & spannering scared me

First night in my ownership......

And now... just about everything that can be changed, has been & running double the power........

Owned celicas since 2006. Had a gen 7 140 and that got damaged so I bought a donor car to fix it and ended up restoring this one instead :)

Did that up and decided it was time to purchase a GT in July last year

Bought a Celica Gen 7 140 back in 2008 as I liked the styling and wanted something realible after owning a Renault Megane Coupe.

The engine died of starvation so was replaced, also did a few little mods to it.

Then I met all you lot and really got into the Celica scene and wanted something with more go. So I bought my current GT back in 2010.

Planned to leave it alone as the GT looks good in stock form, this didnt last very long  and this is how it stands now.

Bought mine back in August 2009, use it as a daily drive and still love it. It's one of those cars that, when you catch a glimpse of yourself in a shop window as you drive by it just make you smile.

I wonder who has had theirs the longest ? Have any of the early Gen lads / lasses had theirs from new ?

I know what you mean! When I picked mine up after major refurb work a week ago, I couldn't stop smiling all the way home :) I hadn't driven it for three and a half years and had almost forgotten how much I loved driving it - but it was like slipping on comfy clothes, just so natural, an extension of one's self!

Where are the Gen 1 - 4's ??

I had my previous celica for just over 3 years. A black gt4 st205 wrc. I imported it myself from Japan which was a bit of a trial but worth it. Gone but not forgotten.

Now I've got the gen 7 t-sport which I've had since August last year so about 10 months. I'll probably never sell it. :)

I got mine in Sept 2012 & she still puts a smile on my face every time I get in her! She gone through a few minor changes since I got her(mainly wheels) but she's nearly exactly how I want her. I'm going to get the current wheels powder coated shortly a nice bright silver, tidy up the paintwork & she'll be done (I hope!)
