  1. Not fussed on what the engine is, it just better have sexy Celica lines. It'd be wonderful if they went full circle and gave a nod or two towards the Gen1's.
  2. What code do you think that shade of red is? I would, but the original orange wasn't very nice in my opionion.
  3. I need some opinions please. I'm kind of 50/50 on it. My RA23 Gen1 Celica is at the restoration phase, and a colour for the car needs to be decided upon. The car was originally the Toyota washed out Orange that I was never a fan of because I thought it was just a little too pale. The car was resprayed at one point and is now Red. I've narrowed it down to two colours, a slightly more vibrant red than it is now or a Mopar/General Lee type orange that stands out. Which do you prefer, and please feel free to share your opinions.
  4. So no one noticed the TA22 bonnet vents I attached to the rear arches of that TA23? You guys are slipping I thought that surely deserved a roasting!

  6. I'm sure by now all you 'classics' guys know about the car tax exemption for 40+ year old cars, well according to this article it now may apply for the UK MoT as well. Have a read and share your thoughts.... http://www.musclecarszone.com/500000-older-cars-in-uk-wont-need-mot-test-next-year/
  7. Here's a link to the article, although it's been quoted above... https://drivetribe.com/p/toyota-just-filed-a-patent-for-CsFTbquYR5ekJEkqXoYTZQ?iid=VB7PxweGRiG3p8-BgkRQnQ&utm_campaign=main+&utm_medium=fb&utm_source=organic
  8. I just spoke to the guy who did the refurb and he says it all went 100%, and she's good as new. I asked him, after I paid him, which one he would use and he said the refurb one. The main reason being that even though the other box has way less miles on it, it's still 40 years old. So the internal seals will have started to get hard and brittle. All it takes is for one of them to fail and you've got problems. I only wish I had of found the lower miles one sooner, as it would have been a far better candidate for a refurb. Ah well, timing is everything.
  9. The refurb'd one is mine, it came with the car. The 37k one is being bought for 150 Euros because I need a new torque converter as mine is shot. He won't sell it separately so I'm having to buy the whole box. It's not a terribly bad price to be honest so I don't mind. Automatic gearboxes for Gen 1 Celicas are rare, so I'll grab it anyway as a back up. The refurb kit I don't think was by Toyota, but the guy doing the refurb comes highly recommended. His business in Dublin only works on automatic gearboxes, that's all they do.
  10. I think it's a really tough decision, fully refurbished or lower miles. Both have their strong points, I'm 50/50 to be honest. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. One small note to take into consideration: the 37k box I've not seen running, I've just the word of the seller it's all working 100%.
  11. It'll be going on. To each their own I suppose.
  12. This sould be fun! "Riced" - definition: A car that has been so heavily or poorly modified that the general consensus is that it looks ridiculous. Have you ever 'riced' a vehicle? Have you seen one parked up and just had to take a picture on how bad you thought it was? If so, post it up here. Please note that if you see your car here we do apologise. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, so take no offence. Not every modification will be everyone's cup of tea. So please remember, this is just for a bit of fun Allow me to 'take one for the team' and kick it off with what I did to my first car. I was young, only 19. Heavily influenced by Americana muscle cars having spent 10 years over there growing up. I beg all of your forgiveness' even though at the time I thought it was the most beautiful creation ever.... 1977 TA23 1600ST Celica Your turn....
  13. We all love our Toyotas. So much so that we put a lot of love and dedication to making them the best that they can be. So when we spot a toy version of our car.......we have to have it! If you've been lucky enough to find a little mini version of your cherished vehicle, post it up here along with a photo of the real thing. Allow us to enjoy what treasures you've found Allow me to kick it off..... Minichamps 1:43 Scale 1978 RA23 2000ST Celica
