your welcome mate , yep Ams is always here to help in our hour of need :)

  3. Hi CCL ....sent you a message about my lowering dilemma , not sure if you got ? but to summarise , I've been convinced that amex springs are the way to go, gonna pick em up in half hr.. got my drop links set ordered and eibach front cam adjuster bolts , problem is the rear camber adjuster bolts, the only ones I've seen online are up to year 99 which I presume will be for gen6 , I plan on getting the upper one that goes through the camber arm and the lower one in the hub carrier, Toyota want £130 for all those bits :( and eibach uk need more info to try n match some up...thread size and length ect, info Toyota don't have or cant be arsed to find out...eibach recon the new focus and Volvo have "similar" bolts but I told em I need certainty as I need all the bits when I hand over the car...any help would be truly welcome as these are the last bits I need....seems crazy Eibach provide the 99-06 front bolts but he seemed to suggest you only get the bolts if you buy there camber arm...

CRAIGZZZZz  !!!! .... Thanks for your reply , very informative erm info... lol... I feel for you man  going through all that with your gen7 to find it was bearings !!! =(  your cars fit now tho...But I must admit its my good fortune you replied as my bearings do whirr a bit , from cold sometimes it can feel quite noticeable the rocking but seems to settle after driving a bit and higher speeds don't seem to affect handling...def' going to get the bearings checked at Toyota on mon', free 15 mins ... not much time is it ,  I bet I end up shelling out for an extended diagnostic  =( get them checked and take things from there... I'll post any improvements I have .. Be good to put this behind me...wish I could do the work myself but I don't know these Celica's very well yet and its my daily driver so got to minimise the time off the rd...

      Hi Lee,

Yeah it was a slight scoring in the hub that caused the bearing to fail early...there was no evidence of play in the bearing when several mechanics checked it...yet despite changing all my suspension, I took the plunge and changed out the hub (second hand) and had a new bearing pressed in...bizarrely the issue went away.

The GEN7 is an excellent car and when performing as it can and should, you will forgive any pound notes and frustration you aired at it. They are a good car and great around country lanes. Not a point to point racer, but more of a through the country lanes racer. You'll get great support and help here and also try the newcelica.org site.

yes I think It will be worth the outlay in the end , I think gen 7's are stunning , not to say the earlier Celica's aren't art in metal, the early fast backs, Supra's, , Gen4 all excellent beauty's but for me Gen 7's ... I fell in love at first sight...had a 140 before this for a year and it hurt to part with it, like family leaving but the tsport I have now is a different beast , just seems to be on its toes the whole time and the boost... !!! addictive to say the least ... my Celica wont be leaving me for a very long time .. the journey's just starting... bearings... number one on my list ....

  5. Hey Debs.... thanks for replying...Love the way people step up on this site...this car is new to me...35.5k miles so I don't think the engine mount will be worn and I know it aint been lowered because after this problem is sorted lowering along with spacers is my first mod.. I will check the camber arm bolts yes once I suss which they are ..not familiar with the setup yet...I go to Toyota for a free 15 min diagnostic mon' , see what they find , if it needs tracking should they be too pricey I spoke to another guy at prestige motors who use hunter laser tracking , they said they will help me...Craigz also replied and said he went to town on his Gen7 spent loads  as he had same problem , I the end it was bearings !!! poor guy...and mine whirr a bit so defo gonna focus on those too...

      Hello Lee,

just my 2 cents worth but:

the 15min diagnostic at the local Toyota garage is fine if free,

....but IME those places don't really have their heart cut out to fix old bangers, they like to sell brand new cars and do simply oil change services, fill the windscreen wash, empty the ash tray, and stamp the warranty book. They are also very expensive for labour charge, so please be careful in there!

On the other hand,  at the other place: the Hunter laser tracking system is the business, well worth paying them guys for the trouble to set it up properly.

I've had mine done locally here with a Hunter and very happy with the results:

That good looking young lad under my car is Micky, he was very impressed by the general condition under there - after recent sub-chassis changes and well greased up camber bolts.

However i'm also very lucky to have a very friendly & local independent Japanese car specialist in town, and he looks after my Celica like it's his own.

I'd advise you to also find a good independent garage who are Toyota or Japanese car friendly, they'll have far more time for you, be better at diagnostics, and cost loads less.

Sheffield is a big place; so ask on the forum for recommended garages near to where you are, there must be someone good nearby! : )

It sounds like you need to get your car up on a ramp, and get under there with a helpful and knowledgeable mechanic to do a very methodical underside check of everything.

How much did you pay for your Tsport? ...if you don't mind me asking? : )

paid 3k for it....the bodywork is like new, even the light lenses are still crystal clear, interior like new, engine not a worry very very lively and with 35k on it , I thought a no brainer...got lucky financially and been itching to upgrade from my previous excellent 140 at earliest opportunity, v.glad I did but these gremlins, on a rd test I didn't pick up much except what I thought was out of balance wheels, turned out to be a warped nsf and inner tread wear on both rears all now sorted. once I got it home and had some quiet time I noticed the rock at rolling speed as I left my house ...I am going to be carful not to get drawn in at Toyota and yes first 15 mins are free then charged up to £90 ph =( but I thought it was worth a try to get some guidance.. good advice looking for a jap focused garage..i'll put the feelers out , thanks Debs
