  1. Yea I'd just use a couple of pieces of wood. Free and easy. Unless you could apply for a dropped kerb?
  2. That Meguirs stuff is really good. I use it to remove dried watermarks and shine up if the car gets caught in the rain or is dusty but not dirty enough to wash. Smells good too lol
  3. I never use WD40 for anything anymore. Simply because the cans always seem to run out of propellant before the other contents have run out. GT85 seems alright, is cheap and has always worked ok for me. I haven't got time for data sheets and analysing the contents lol for tough stuff it gets used with a hammer and a blowtorch too
  4. I've just got a mondeo for a daily driver. That's a 2005 but only got 65,000 miles on it. Rear passenger wheel bearing had gone on that. It's got steel wheels on at moment and when I took the wheel trim off that wheel it's got a really big dent in the rim. Part of me thinks that can't be a coincidence and probably didn't help!
  5. I used to have a couple of 2 stroke sports bikes. Love the smell!
  6. The keys is good prep; getting the final primer flatted properly and finding a good paint shop to make up a good match paint using quality cans. U-POL is the clear lacquer I used, good stuff
  7. I repainted my rear spoiler, the top half of both front wings and the corner of the bonnet due to lacquer peel. Cost me about £30 per section in materials, if that. Got a good finish from cans. The process is in my build thread with pictures too.
  8. You beat me to it! I was going to suggest that. Mine has a Toad AI606 fitted and kept going off when I first got it. I disabled the ultrasonics using the same method and it's been fine since.
  9. Depending where it is exactly and how bad you can respray part panels with spraycans and get a good match if you do it properly and use good quality spraycans filled at a good paint supplier

  11. I wouldn't worry about rusty brake pipes being an indicator, mine went but the underneath of the car is solid
  12. Yeah I tried sanding and polishing the patches but it didn't look much better. Ended up just respraying bits
  13. They're very good. They re cut my diamond cut ones that were old, chipped and furred up. One of the few that actually do the cutting rather than farm it out to someone else. I had a look round and they had some lovely painted and coated stuff in they'd done. I'd recommend

  15. Axle stands I just bought the Halfords ones when they were on offer. Plenty good enough. Position under the subframe at the rear and main chassis rails at the front. That's what I do on the gen6 anyway. I wouldn't trust the jacking points on the sills.
  16. Wire wheel on a grinder will clean that up, then some rust treatment brushed on like Bilt Hamber then whatever paint or underseal you want. Bit of time but minimal cost to do yourself. That spare wheel well looks suspicious though. Looks like that might go through on harder inspection. Hard to tell from pics though

  19. I've always been tempted to remove the spare wheel as that is really heavy being full size. All the punctures I've had I've managed to inflate enough to get me home. Though if I remove it I'll probably rip out a sidewall the next day. Lol
  20. Just thought I'd add something to this. When I took the celica for its first MOT under my ownership, I'd done everything I thought needed doing in terms of safety, including new discs and pads etc. I got a call to say the brake pipes had actually burst on the rollers during the test. Not the bits you can see, but the bit where they go under the plastic cover halfway down the car. Now, your average guy would be hard pressed to visually spot that. If it hadn't been picked up at the MOT when would it have gone? The first time i broke heavily at motorway speeds? If someone pulled out on me? I'm really glad the MOT test did what it was supposed to there.

  22. You cant get fully in there to clean but you can enough. The main part to clean is the little adjusting flap thing and that's fully accessible. I'd definitely clean the existing one, but its your call. Toothbrush, cotton buds and carb cleaner worked for me
  23. Just describe it to the dealer in person and they'll figure it out. If they're unsure they'll just show you the diagram on their screen to make sure.
  24. You can still buy the gaskets new from any toyota dealer, pretty cheap. If you do a search, or it might even be in the stickies section, there's a guide on stripping and cleaning the IACV. If you get stuck then me or a few of the others can help. If you buy a used part then you risk it being as bad. They don't really go wrong as such, just get full of gunk then seize. A clean should be all that's needed.
