  1. yeah no what you mean. but in terms of getting air in the front end it was bloody good. never really got over about 2/5th (about 10% less than normal) on the temp gauge made a very cool engine bay. and that i think we can all like.
  2. cheers buddy, well cars off the road so i think i will give it a shot and see what happens. if it all goes wrong then i will just have to carry on looking for the bumper i had before.
  3. gen 5 has wings that come right to the front of the car. unlike the 7 that half the wheel arch is bumper.
  4. quick mock up in cad to check what the sizes work out like and it looks close enough for me to start playing with the idea. now just to find the right bumper.
  5. top one looks perfect. just so i can put some measurements on it and see how far out it will be. thanks your a star
  6. have you looked at it though???? it just doesnt work. thats because you are well looks like no one has a pic of a 7 and 5 next to each other? what about a pic of a 7 and a pic of a 5 at the same angle/distance? i know there are people out there that take shots at the shows and replicate the shot almost with every car. come on help me out here. thanks for the comments so far though. keep 'em coming
  7. this is all i have at the moment. the other pic was from a while ago, pre accident.
  8. thanks james. cant sculpt the lip in though as then it would be impossible to get the car apart. as it is the side skirts are sealed to the front wings so these can not come off. this makes for working on the car difficult at the moment but workable. if the front bumper is fixed to the wings and lip then any thing more than a simple service becomes a problem. for example the rear washer on the car has stopped working a few years ago after the kit was fitted. as far as i know its not really possible to get to the pump without removing the wing. so the washer pump has been left as its not part of the mot (and never really used it any way). sorry have to look at it in a practical sense as the poor bugger that will be do the work on it when its back on the road will be me.
  9. its possible but for the price i will have to pay for all the bits to put it back to a standard bumper and then the price of a lip on top it would cost as much if not more than just making some thing a little different and unique. plus putting a lip on just looks like an after thought. a bit like "oops i forgot to do the front, oh that will do". if that makes sense. http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/celica1/bodykits/t20amazon3.jpg
  10. i have to sort out a new bumper though as after the accident i have no front end. as in the pic above. if i put a standard bumper back on it as per a gt4 then there will be about a 6" height difference between the skirts and the front end as the standard front end is miles off the ground. getting any thing gen5 body kit wise now is getting to be very difficult. some thing has to be done im afraid. and as for bastardising a gen 5 i did that years ago now and just looking for some thing different.
  11. yeah thats what im thinking. but i can fibre glass and sculpt it to work if it close enough. if its miles out i cant see the point in wasting the time. im also thinking that the front of the gen7 comes in (more circular at the front) on the wings to much. im liking the second one as it kind of flows with the rest of the kit a little better as its not as sharp??? i have to do some thing, this is just no good, and a standard bumper with the rest of the kit just looks bad.
  12. have some very rough ideas i have knocked up. width i got from the wiki was 1735mm for the gen 7 and 1690mm for the gen5. so they are very close. can some one measure the distance between the bottom inside corners of the head lights for me? these are not pretty but give an idea. could find a good angle of the TRD bumper to have a go at but seem similar to the other one i found. anyway i need to sort a new front end out and having some thing different to what i had before seemed like a good idea as i was never a big fan of it (but could live with it). any other ideas are welcome as well. thanks andy
  13. im looking at new front ends and as there are very limited choices out there and i have more time than sense i was thinking of maybe taking a gen7 after market bumper and making it fit a gen 5. not sure what front end i would go for yet. just looking to see what the sizes measure up like to see if it is possible with out to much work. i know its going to be a bit of work as the bonnet line would have to be adjusted but was hoping the rest would be close enough to go. going to go look up the specs for both cars now but wondered if any one had a good pic so i can visualise it. thanks andy
  14. should work as a good indicator as long as it has not be left in the box torqued up to a setting.
  15. had to look this one up as i said never put a torque wrench on one. but if you did want to do it then i found it (not that easy to find). 250 kg-cm = 18 ft-lb = 25 N-m for the sump plug.
  16. buy a magnetic one and it will come with a new washer. torgue setting is always the same, and thats my right arm. tight is tight!! (but dont over do it) cheap enough. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=magnetic+sump+bolt+celica&_lncat=0&_sop=15&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=magnetic+sump+celica&_sacat=0
  17. its gold. its tiny. its definitely not you. did you buy that. i could go on. lets just say the celica's off the road at the moment.
  18. i got one of them as well. its always in the car along with the rest of the tools so if you need i will have one there.
  19. i will say it then. every one knows any way but for the record the rear strut brace from the gen 6 fits the gen 5. apart from that any thing else can be made to fit (ask princy )
  20. what about 6k8? interesting and almost black....
  21. top left of the steering column is a brass pin. this is the live and earth can go anywere. there should be a contact ring attached to one of your bosses that you can use i would have thought
  22. must be some sort of japanese???? maybe worth asking oilman on here. hes helpful and seem to know his stuff. cant say that i have ever looked in to it and just got what ever ATF i could at the time and stuck in there.
