  1. Tractors don't require an MOT to be driven on the road. So could be some really old tractors driving about with dangerous mechanical faults for all we know. Saying that, I've never actually seen a tractor broken down on the side of the road.
  2. Well there was an article on various motoring sites back in the March, saying that Toyota are planning a 3-car sports line-up. The GT86, the new Supra, and possibly, even a new MR2. There's been no updates since then however, but I'm hoping we will get to hear something pretty soon.
  3. Sorry dude, didn't want to come across as insensitive. I did a similar thing a couple of years back. Tried to park between 2 cars in a Sainsburys car park and caught my near side door on the rear bumper of a mini. Had a lot of scratches to polish out the next day.
  4. Assuming from the description that was self-inflicted?
  5. Rotated my wheels around diagonally to prevent early tyre wear. Should be good for another 6-7000 miles now.
  6. Nearly £40 a side for a strut boot, could get them for about £22 at the time from TCB parts. Apparently a genuine TRD spoiler (unpainted) was somewhere around £1200 only a couple of years ago.. On the plus I got a free sump plug washer from them last December
  7. The amount we had to drill open the holes in the boot to fit my second TRD spoiler... Still doesn't it flush lol.
  8. I think my nerves come from my first ever MOT being a fail (on my old XR2), and my Celica's first being a fail due uneven braking at the front (never actually noticed anything myself though). 2 passes ever since though
  9. Insured mine for another year yesterday. Managed to get nearly £100 off of my renewal price after abit of bartering over the phone.
  10. I thought Toyota had a strict build policy no matter where their cars are assembled? For example their cars built at the plant in Derby (e.g. E12 Corolla T Sport). Employees are said to do alot of overtime to make sure the cars are built up to the same exacting standards of the Jap built ones.
  11. Coupes are a fashion item aswell as a car, and this has been the case for many, many years. Alot of (but not all) people who buy coupes brand new, are more concerned about looking good than going fast. They want people in the streets to see their stylish, and expensive car, and recognize their wealth and status. The performance is secondary to them, since they want to travel at a speed where they'll get noticed. With the state of the roads nowadays, the increase in traffic over the last 20 years, not to mention the speed cameras and speed traps going up, there seems to be less and less point in having a really powerful car. IMO, handling is the most important performance characteristic in a car, and I think it's more true now than ever before. Atleast with a Celica, you can actually use the power you have most of the time, and not have to worry to speed limits too much. I would rather own a lower power car with an amazing chassis, than something than can do 0-60 in 5 seconds or so. I find it satisfying to drive a car which you can rev, but not get yourself into trouble. Just my thoughts, nothing more.
  12. I'm surprised they didn't catch on more as they were extremely quick for their time. I guess the styling was too "love it or hate it" for most people. Personally, I love it.
  13. IIRC it was around that time diesel coupes were starting to appear. Remember when Peugeot made a 406 coupe diesel? Ironically I could actually have seen a diesel Celica selling fairly well over here!
  14. Taken during a good drive out after giving it a much needed wash.
  15. A Gen 7 T-Sport was £200 more quoted on insurance for me for a year than an SW20 MR2, despite being 1 insurance group lower, and FWD and less likely to spin on corners. It says on the Greenlight page that they won't insure new drivers on a 190 full stop aswell.
  16. I got "exhaust noisy" a couple of years ago, took it as a compliment too
  17. Yep they made a couple of convertibles for You Only Live Twice. I think most agree the standard coupe production car looked better lol.
  18. Worst part is they used to own a Gen 7 GT and were a member of this club.
  19. At a car meet last summer. "Is it you who own's the civic?"
