  5. Most definitely agree with this, they almost seem surprised that he crashed, I mean how could that happen to a man with such god-like drifting skills?! Also annoying my that they qualify drifting as "driving a front-wheel drive car a bit fast and then turning the steering wheel", mind you they don't have corners over there so it's probably quite rarely that they see anyone do that
  6. From those power and torque graphs it looks like the benefit comes in the higher rev range, you actually lose power and torque below 2000 RPM, so for commuting and cruising you may actually be running less power than normal and (I would guess) increasing internal friction which will reduce your mpg. Maybe more geared towards a track day car, or those who are lucky enough to have some quiet and twisty roads on their way to work Also slightly puzzled by Millers' claim that this new oil fills in the rough metal surfaces and forms a smooth film - makes me wonder what the hell they were trying to do before
  7. Thanks for the advice all, think i'll give hammerite smooth a try. Slightly alarmed by how long it takes to dry though, can it really take 48 hours?! It says touch dry in an hour or something on most of the info about it, and i know it's cold at the moment but surely it can't take more than 2-3 hours? It's not essential that i paint them this time round, just figured it'd be easier whilst the discs are off. I've grown quite fond of the idea of nice gloss black calipers...
  8. Hi all So I'm in the process of changing my discs and pads at the moment - have pretty much everything I need and now just waiting for a dry weekend so I can do it out on the drive! I figure whilst everything's off the car I might paint the brake calipers and the shields that sit behind the disc, but I'm wandering what type of paint to use... I've been recommended hammerite smooth, but I've noticed that hammerite also do a "high temperature" range which leads me to think that maybe the normal stuff it not suitable for excessive temperatures. Has anyone else used this stuff and is it any good? Will the normal hammerite be enough or will it just burn off when the brakes heat up? Have tried hunting around google but I can't find anything that says what it's maximum operating temperature is. Thanks for any help. Rob
  9. Technically only one of these things came today, the other one was two days ago..... But my new MTEC discs and Mintex pads have arrived! Courtesy of Stewart at Freaky Parts, very helpful guy and he got me a much better price than I would have paid otherwise. Goodbye squeaky knackered brakes, hello actual stopping power
  10. A good friend of my missus does similar stuff, works for a company called Chips Away, oddly named as the majority of their business is actually bumps and dents, but they also do scratches and stuff. http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/markward He's based in Farncombe (I think) but covers most of Surrey, really nice guy and he does good work.
  11. I've seen a few people on the forum that have used this place: http://www.paints4u.com/ Sounds like the dodgiest place ever lol (those cash4gold tv adverts spring to mind...) but apparently they make a good range of touch-up kits and paints and do a very good colour-match. They also have a little search engine type thing if you don't know your paint code. I've been thinking of getting one of their touch-up kits for the stone chips on my bonnet, so have not tried them myself yet but they may be worth investigating.
