  1. Full service history (would have to be proven)
  2. Theres a pretty unmolested looking white GT on our classifieds at the moment.125k FSH apparently
  3. Hi, do you mean it 'hunts' when its ticking over,ie not constant but revs go up and down.If so does it do it when its warmed up as well?First thing to do in any case is to have a really close look at all your vacuum pipes ,and check the large ribbed pipe from the throttle body to the air filter ,just to make sure theres no cracks/splits and you can rule out air leaks before anything else.
  4. yeah show us the car on the non celica section.Especially if you have an F type!
  5. Unfortunately you'll still need to get it through an mot or youll get hardly anything for it.
  6. Owned my ST162 7 years this year...its been a hell of a ride.
  7. Exedy clutch kit arrived down at Beks,Millers Motorsport LSD gearbox oil arrived at mine all ready for gearbox transplant in a couple of weeks or so
  8. Kurust is decent stuff, but not for heavily corroded surfaces.A few years back i used a lot of Waxoyl over Hammerite, its done its job well so far.If i had to take the underside of the the car back and re - treat it,I think I would probably use the POR products and/or Dinitrol, which gets very good feedback on the classic car scene.Waxoyl in box sections or Dinitrol.I still check under my car every year and top up the Waxoyl, its protected my car for a good while. You have to make sure theres no hidden nasties though, even i missed a few of these and ended up having to get Bek to get the welder out a couple of years later.
  9. All down to budget,if you want a really good one, weatherproof with some breatheability and a soft inner lining for long term outdoor use,i have one of these but they are pricey...mine has elasticated front and rear, and clips tight underneath the car front, rear, and two under the centre of the car and has wing mirror pockets. Its tailored to a gen4 Celica by them, but can order for any car.The example below is a more extreme one, they do a lighter, cheaper version and you can modify it to your needs (at a price) http://www.specialisedcovers.com/checkout/cart as I say though its down to budget! Keeping a near 30 year old Celica outside is a challenge, but ive had the cover a good while now and its been worth the outlay. No cover is ideal for a car, well long term anyway, but my car has definitely benefited from this one ,its one of the best available but you will need the outlay. Its not like the car spends months under it in one hit,but as its not a daily it is covered whenever its not being used all year round....but this time of year it does spend a lot of time covered, also protects my red paint from sun and bird crap. For a smaller budget the guys above have been happy with theirs though.
  10. If those rear quarters have any distortion itll definitely be a write off
  11. That photographic resto documentation is pure gold for anyone looking at spending good money on a 165.Good for a potential owner, and to be frank gives the seller more justification to separate it from the other ones for sale( of which there are pretty much bugger all )
  12. If you dont get any joy here through an ad,(you will need to nail a price though mate) then you're gong to be looking at selling through OC or carandclassics site which is good. Then the dreaded eBay .Havent spoken to Brendan for a while...he was always a bit of a 165 fan.Worth a call?
  13. Sorry to hear she has to go mate but if its not getting any use... I'll assume you have a ballpark figure in your mind of what the minimum is you need to have for the car after all the work that was done. The main issue is it not being MOT'd which to someone who doesnt know you will be a large bargaining point because they are taking on the 'risk' of anything cropping up.I know you're good on your word but they dont.If it was mine and it had a years MOT id be looking at advertising for say around 4 grand and see how you go from there?IShould be worth more for what it is but got to be realistic in the market. It is a genuinely rust free car and there aint many like that when it comes to 165's,and you do have a full portfolio of the work done which is great.I dont have the money spare but for what its worth,if I did id be having a serious chat with you about having it myself.Dammit.Would you take instalments
  14. Set of far too expensive ARP flywheel bolts for Fidanza conversion.Nothing too exciting!Though will be when its all done
  15. I'm quite lucky that I get quite a few comments on my car, from young blokes thinking it looks wicked,to older ones remarking how clean it is for the year,or that they owned one years ago.I had a young fella in a Mini Cooper have a quick chat with me in the garage when i was checking my tyre pressures couple of weeks back actually,he knew what he was on about as at first he wondered if it was an ST165 that had been modified.I'm quite happy to chat to strangers that appreciate the car,its definitely a feelgood moment. It's knocking on the door of 30 years old now,so theres a lot of people that will never have seen a gen4 Celica before.Certainly not one like mine Now that IS worrying.
  16. Well if its definitely that car thats in the pic,the thing is now unfortunately toast. One less little piece of history on the roads .
  17. Martin has been highly recommended for a good while now,im sure he'll do an excellent job for you.
  18. We've been banging on about the low value of 165 GT4's for years. There are one or two on ebay at the moment in different states of condition. There will be a day when they just wont come up any more, due to needless breaking of saveable cars ,for one. There will come a point when people will hanker after one and they just wont be about, thats when the dealers come in and buy up the good ones and stick big prices on them. It's coming.. Oh and yeah the pic is wrong but so is the info, the 165s were a 1988 introduction, late E reg earliest, (the first cars to come with a catalytic converter in the UK i believe),the Front drive 162's like mine were from 85-89.So you've only got a couple of years of production for the 165,as the 185 appeared in what, late 90 maybe -91?hence the lack of numbers also. The 165 was around 20 grand when it appeared, certainly not a cheap car at the time. 0-60 just under 8 seconds,138mph . http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/112660-celica-1985-90/ here's a sight you are unlikely to see again unless you're lucky.A row of 165's in one place.
  19. I didnt have corner weighting done on my car but id had Whiteline adjustable camber bolts from GTFour play on the rear to go along with the polybushed Whiteline ARB, and the BC BR coilies on.I had a full geo done for about 105 or 115 quid I think and the car was night and day from an OEM setup.See what your proper printout looks like because what you have is a little naff without the basic info
  20. bit weird if youre sure theres no oil leaks anywhere .If its due a service then give it a full one, opportunity to get underneath and ensure that cam cover gasket isnt weeping a little down the back of the engine and the heat from the exhaust isnt making it smell.I would definitely be tempted to pop off a few of the more accessible ppes and check them, like the pipe that comes from the cam cover on the right hand side, also have the main pipe off that goes from throttle body to air box and see if the body itself has oil in it and needs a clean. It probably will
  21. Yep,for me if I dont have the enthusiasm to take a car out just for the fun of it,then the car needs to go.I've always done it,whether it was in my old Escorts,Alfa or Celicas. My daily is a VW diesel.I dont go out in that unless it for an actual purpose
