About Me
I wanted a car from the day I was born; I nearly starved myself to death in order to buy the first one which was a 1970 Vauxhall Viva (originally an 1159cc overhead valve engine, subsequently replaced by the massive 1256cc engine from a Chevette) which I still own today after 35 years!
So, the current fleet includes the said Viva (long since off the road awaiting restoration), my trusty Rover 600 and the Celica. Love them all. The 600 was the best thing the Rover-Honda partnership ever did, essentially a Rover bodyshell and suspension with Honda doing the rest including the very nice 2litre engine/gearbox. Narrowly missed losing my licence in the 600 on an empty M5 with me doing well over 100. The very kind policemen actually pressed his button when I had slowed to 94 The 600 was a really great car in its day, and still stands the test. The turbo versions have superb performance but I'm happy with my non-turbo. The 600 was so good that BMW saw the threat the Rover-Honda partnership posed, so they bought the company and destroyed it! Bastards.
Think I am now past the stage of modifying cars.....maybe....
