  1. because it is the greatest vehicle ever produced and future generations need to experience its true majesty?
  2. I paid around £70 per alloy for refurb, powdercoat including straightening at Platinum alloys in Swindon. The Fondmetal alloys are generally fairly heavy, prone to bending in potholes and the finish is not good. Because of this I went with aftermarket alloys that are lighter and can look better (wider 8j, different colours) or more to your taste. Also switching to 225/45r17 tyre size can be good to prevent pothole damage. Only downside with looking at aftermarket or nice used alloys is that it can quickly get addictive/more expensive.

  4. I bought rear number plates in the past from Halfords but found after some time the clear plastic layer starts lifting off after water gets underneath it, probably from the holes I have drilled to fit it. Am I fitting it wrong or are there better places to buy number plates.
  5. I used deox rust removal gel, then hammerite and waxoyl underseal, the waxoyl seems to prevent chipping Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I have crush bent from Infinity 2.5", not sure if its changed when I had mine done they only had mandrel for 3". I didn't check at the time and ended up with crush bent. It bothered me at first, however the force of the gases coming out from the rotrex is so great I had advice (Lee) that it made little difference. Looking at the power/torque curves it seems to bear that out. So if I did it again maybe would just come down to preference. Couple of other things are: there should be a gap to the rear valence of ~>10-15mm otherwise it will start melting, like mine. Maybe go for a bolt-on cat/de-cat in case you eventually try different options. I had a straight through exhaust with two inline silencers, noise seems ok for trackdays even with the decat. A back box can get blown apart. The cat I originally chose was a 3" magnaflow 200 CEL, it survived two dyno tunes fine, ultimately I found it not much use. Consider to have a bung/sensor fitted on the downpipe for a wideband AFR that helps with tuning. I did get some cracking on the exhaust and had it re-welded could be due to hitting a kerb as its low.

  9. The journey I did pretty much felt like that. If you do it sometime it would be good to mug up on the accordion and blues which seem to be favourite topics of discussion alongside tuning. Also some good business/tuning savvy there.
  10. Its a cool place would have liked just to browse the shelves for a bit, there's a line up of engines in the corner, sure I could have sneaked in a bit more somehow
  11. Happened to be working in the area near to Detroit so took a trip to see Monkeywrench racing. They ran out of rental cars as I arrived late so got a Hyundai Velostar. Interesting to see the difference with a new sports coupe to the Celica as its 12 yrs old. It has a few extra gadgets like heated seats, multifunction steering wheel, paddleshift, start button. The one I will miss are the heated seats. Comfortable over lots of miles, 1.6 Turbo was ok, handling skipped on bumps, bit like an ordinary car with some snazzy bits, decent work horse. MWR is a small company with friendly people, seem to have the right car out front. This is Gary who is the sales manager and good guy. Some very tasty cars inside, much of their business is for Lotus. The Evora is a new development car and had a cool new developed exhaust system. Stock is ready on the shelves. It was great that I got instant service for a walk-in customer, open 10am to 5pm. There some local sales tax ~5% to add. Bought their fuel pressure regulator and fuel return system off the shelf. Hoping it will give good flexibility and control on the next tune. Apparently they sell quite a few of these just for the extra bling. Went across the Canadian border, carried it on the return flight as hand luggage and through customs at Heathrow with the box under my arm and no delays or charges so saved a bit on shipping/duty. It just comes under the personal import allowance.
  12. Happy Anniversary Y393!

  13. Grayston toggle with blue LED and flip cover to activate the Accusump:
  14. btw if its the same as mine to install in the boot light I cut off one row of LED's with a hacksaw, it was the row on the opposite side to the connector, still works, fits and looks good.
  15. I can cause collateral damage, er and I need a new gaitor plus I broke one of the white plastic fittings in the back of the console when changing the stereo.
  16. Console received to install gauges in cubby door, 3 x 60mm could be a squeeze.
  17. Looks very nice, getting a new fire surround at the weekend and then 'insert' stove in December. 4.9kW of sheer heating power.
  18. Happy Anniversary Y393!

  19. How about servicing will a dealer look at a modded car? Or is it better to go independent, how to find a better independent?
  20. Shop window reflections and small boys saying its cool rule
  21. 11 years this month. Still don't want another car. How about you?
