  9. I shouldn’t have taken this photo (we were forbidden to lol, hence why it’s so crap) but I couldn’t resist getting some form of photographic evidence that my Celica was bang in the middle of several shots on the film set last week Slightly intimidating company I must admit!

  20. The colour of Kev's car still strangely fascinates me after all these years . It's not just simply white, but it sort of is.And its not typical of the creamy off whites Toyota used.Sometimes it looks like its got the faintest hint of a spearmint kind of hue about it,but it sort of hasn't.And it always looks kind of different in almost every pic I see of it,and when I've seen it in different lights up close. But its not a pearl either so it shouldn't technically refract light particularly either. My brain can't seem to figure out what my eyes tell me should be a straightforward evaluation. I'm going to lie down and think about it.

  25. Today it was personalized coaching on the Geoparc circuit in Saint-Dié des Vosges, a gift from my sister and brother for my 60th birthday. I think the brake pads can confirm that I have worked well on my braking

  26. Well, the latest update is that I had a look at the inner workings of the ECM/TCM. Two of the capacitors had failed, (leaking out over the circuit boards). one of them actually fell off the PCB as it was so corroded. It looked as if it had also wrecked come of the circuit tracking, I cleaned up all that I could, put it back on the car to make sure it still fired up, which it did., and then took the car for a spin to see what would happen. Very surprised that the car now seems to work perfectly, changing gears where it should, kicking down a gear or two depending on acceleration & speed. It even worked perfectly on a 400 mile round trip from Norfolk to Hampshire for Simply Japanese show. I have purchased some replacement capacitors (25p each) 50v 10uF which I will probably solder in place over the next month or so when the car is coming off the road for a bit more suspension work. So watch this space .

  27. Wymondham Rugby Club. I was also there, but on Tarmac. I got soaked on the way home, there was a shower, put the hood up, the shower stopped. I put the hood down and drove home, 1/2 mile down the road (on a main road) it just rained, not just any rain, proper soak you sort of rain. Car drying out in the garage. Remember it's "cool to be cold" but it's most definitely cold to be wet.

  30. It's getting very very hard to find parts for older cars through the normal channels. I think many supply chains broke during covid and the less lucrative ones have never been re-established. I this is one of the main reasons mechanics are tending to avoid working on older cars and are so keen to write them off for simple problems. Forums such as this one are a godsend as they provide information on specialist suppliers, specialist garages and even the technical knowledge for DIY.
