  2. Well, not actually done today, but last Thursday, we passed our 13th MoT together . Had to do relatively a lot of work this year; both front calipers were binding slightly and needed an oily rag wiped over them. One of the rear calipers looked like it might be past the oily rag stage so that got replaced, but got a good used one for £20 on ebay. After that all OK, with no advisories.

  4. Cheers for your input G yeah brakes is usually a good bartering opportunity for a cheap diy upgrade.. What about tips on spotting a modern oil burner particularly on pre-facelifts?
  5. I always look for the usuals in higher miles. Rust, brakes & suspension (usually fooked), belts/chain and oil history I accept that other things will be well on their way to knackered such as clutch and exhaust even if they seem ok on the test drive I dont think I've ever bought a car which didnt have totally scrap brakes
  6. Bit of a general discussion one this one I'm just curious to pick other more superior opinions on here!! What sort of mileage/ and/or age do people find maintenance type costs rise on celicas/Toyotas/generally? Backdrop: was playing with the idea of also trying to pickup a cheap preface mk3 mr2 post summer to play with too but interested in people's opinions generally I've had v high milers some with motorway in the past trouble and corrosion free till scrapped and some lower milers but not quite perfect, my own gen 7 s gone 120-140k with me with not a huge history and I've just had the usual common things rectified (tho thinking a clutch change can't be far away) What sort of things do people particularly look for on high milers/older cars? PS.apols not posted for a while been busy but still reading.

  18. Gen 7 Roof Bars.

    id love a Toyota Bicycle
  19. Gen 7 Roof Bars.

Toyota did have roof rack bars available - as an accessory for the Celica Gen7. Somewhere i have a showroom handout brochure for the 2003 Celica, and one of the photos shows a roof rack-fitted with bicycles. Although, i bet they were expensive to buy from Mr.T at the time, and maybe difficult to find pre-owned now. Just had a look at the Thule website and they don't appear to list the G7 Celica. Debs
  20. Gen 7 Roof Bars.

Is it possible to fit roof bars to a Gen 7? If so what are the ones to get, Looking at transporting a couple of 11 foot Kayaks.

  25. What came in the Post Today?

Got my replacement AC compressor, courtesy of member Spaff Came off his 35k mile car, bearings are all still SUPER smooth and it feels pretty much new. Needs a little tidy up on the face of the magnetic clutch but its superficial only. Bit of a clean and it will come up a treat before fitting, new o-rings & gas re-charge. He was kind enough to include the three mount bolts, plus one surprise small bolt of unknown origin. (hope his engine doesn't fall out) It was wrapped in a Sainsburys shopping bag so he is obviously a little more upmarket than my humble Lidl fayre
